How do you feel about this?
The current younger generation, appear to never have been taught penmanship skills. As a result, I notice they, (many young people), grip whatever writing instrument they are using, with what I call a "baby fist grip". They don't point the pen on any kind of angle.
It looks "sad" to me when a full grown person, writes like a child. Anyone else notice this ? |

It's not me using the pen so I don't much worry about it.

I have not paid much attention. I'm lucky enough if I can pay attention to the meeting I'm attending We've only hired one millennial in recent years and I wrote him off as soon as I saw the skinny jeans and keds during the week.

I suspect that I'm part of this generation. At school I was taught writing as a functional process rather than a skill. I learned to hold a pen at the feet of my dad. It makes me sad that I wasn't taught to write "properly" (although with dyspraxia I'm not sure I would ever succeed in that particular challenge) especially when I see the artistic element to some older friends.

Part of holding a pen at a more vertical position is related to the basic design on a rollerball I imagine. Many simply skip if held at a normal angle. But they are kids. Remember their brains have simply not finished growing yet.

Actually I am a 35 year old father of 2. I am somewhat ashamed to say that I can't really write. I can type but penmanship is not really my domain I am afraid. Haven't had the need in 10-15 years. Everything I do is on a computer of some sort.
