Does a precious metal Rolex ruin your appreciation of SS Rolex?

Looking to add a precious metal piece but I’m afraid that there is no turning back. The weight of it is something else compared to SS. Afraid I won’t wear my SS Rolexes after buying them. Has anyone else experienced this?

Totally inidvidual taste. My experience has been the opposite, going from yellow gold (many years ago) to ss. And having done so, only wearing ss.

I go back and forth on this. When you first get a PM piece that is usually the thought. But over time, you learn to appreciate both.

I love my yellow gold sub and Oysterflex Daytona, but still thoroughly enjoy wearing my DJ41 with fluted bezel and jubilee.

Does wearing a Tom Ford suit ruin the experience of wearing Levi jeans and a $30 shirt?

I had TT, so not totally PM, but prefer the look of SS way more, so for me no.

I wouldn't say it "ruined my appreciation" of SS: I still appreciate SS, but I've no longer a desire to wear it.

I prefer my gold models but frequently wear my steel ones when the mood strikes me.

Agreed.
Different watches for different occasions/places. I usually don’t wear PM to the beach, for example

Not at all. Both metals are fantastic in their own right.

I paid a premium for my TT, and I love it. But I’m most comfortable wearing my SS watches. I have neither the desire or the pocketbook for a full PM watch. That’s brand new car money, to me, so not worth it.

Why is the weight of precious metal considered a good thing? Please explain.

I'd be lying if I said it didn't. I love my stainless pieces, but there's something about PM that is almost intoxicating. The weight, the feel, the appearance, its just really moves me. I definitely favor my pm pieces.

I have noticed that I am more likely to wear my white gold Daytona 116509 over my stainless steel Daytona 126500. I love both of them, but I like the feel the gold version gives me.

Shouldn’t do at all. Will give you options depending on how you’re dressed / what you’re doing at any given time.

My TT I view as a dress ‘occasion’ watch, & SS’s work or casual.
