Two best-selling Rolex models ever?
Are these two the biggest sellers ever? We don't know for sure as Rolex doesn't give production numbers but I suspect they might be.

More likely OP and OP Date if you're talking about total sales over Rolex history, with DJ third.

DJ certainly. It seems to me that 30-40 years ago the blue dial Sub was the popular one. May just be me-the black no gold sub always looked like a garbage watch to me-still does. So I never really noticed them?

To 99% of the general population of this planet the TT Datejust is THE Rolex when Rolex is mentioned. I would say that would be the best selling Rolex in the World wide sense.

I would think over all time since Rolex started production, SS and tutone Datejusts have been the biggest sellers. Subs, although quite popular, are more of a specialty model.

I’d say OP & DJ in no particular order nor gender.
The Sub isn’t likely to be in the top 2 for sheer production reasons. Without a ladies model, and due to its later introduction compared to OP & DJ, very unlikely the Sub production numbers would match up with OP & DJ volumes over the years. And let’s face it, with Rolex the production number defines the sales numbers. 100% are sold to distributors. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

This reminds me of a random thought I had. I'd imagine DJs are still the most popular and best-selling Rolex. THE Rolex to maybe 90% of the population? I've also noticed some variation of DJ (TT more often but sometimes even steel) has been available at the AD most times I've visited, even recently.
I wonder if most of the non-WIS population that may be seeking out a Rolex as a "nice watch" even knows or cares about the supply shortages that we talk about here. I wonder if as long as they can get some kind of Datejust, they are perfectly okay. |

I would, however, say that the stainless Sub and TT/Jubilee/Champagne DJ are the most popular ever in terms of recognizability. |

Thanks my friend.
The 1984 DJ belongs to a friend though. Here's the story: https://luxurywatches635.wordpress.c...atejust-16013/ Lovely watch, either way. And a true Rolex classic for sure.

The most selling Rolex model is a TT DJ lady, at least it was a few years back.
