How many watches are allowed per year?

I had an interesting conversation today? How many Rolexes can you buy per year. Or on 1 visit to the AD I was told 3 per year?

Thanks guys,

All depends on how big of a customer you are and what your AD feels like selling you

One of my AD's only allow 2 purchases per year. And on the contrary another AD has let me purchase up to 4 watches in one year.

And I have never purchased more than 1 at once. All separate visits throughout the year.

I have bought five from my current AD, roughly one per year, but have never been told there’s a quota. I am sure they have other clients that buy lots more.

Watches of Switzerland limits you to one piece every 3 months. I'm sure there are always exceptions, but I've been able to get 3 pieces over the past year.

Lol, 0 all exhibition only pieces, too funny! Yes, that’s what it usually is. I was wondering?
Because my conversation today and I did not ask why? So I guess it depends on the AD and your relationship. This not something that comes from Rolex as a directive.

Some on here that mentioned getting the call and then another call 2 weeks later, which would not be 3 per year, or 1 every 4 months but as I’ve seen it all is about the AD
they all work in mysterious ways.

Thanks guys!

Probably depends if you’re talking only Rolex or other brands too. I doubt they care if you want to buy multiple lesser brands vs only Rolex.

Some watches are easier to sell that others, even Rolexes. If you are someone who wants to buy pieces for which there is not so much demand, why would a dealer restrict how many you could buy? If if such a person wanted an in-demand piece too, do you think they’d say no?

On the other hand, say a dealer is going to be allocated 20 stainless GMT models, and they have 200 people who want one. Would it be right to sell one favored client two or three?

There is no one answer to this question.

There’s no strict rule, as each AD operates independently and has the freedom to sell to whomever they choose, as often as they wish. The only person that can answer this question is your local Sales Assistant.

Thanks guys,
Sounds like Ben Bridge's policy. 1 precious metal, 1 2 tone, and 1 steel professional model per year

It depends on you, your AD and your relationship with them. There is no universal fixed number. If the watch isn't waitlisted I expect you can buy as many as you like.

Thanks guys,
So what you are saying if a person goes into ADs watch retail shop with plenty of cash and he/she wanted to buy say 10 Rolex watches and they were in stock. The AD would only sell 3 because the AD can only sell max 3 watches a year. Afraid business is like any other business to sell as many as there retail product from there retail stores as possible to anyone who has the cash to pay for them.

Again you are out of touch.

My last Rolex purchase my watch sat in the safe for a week until I was allowed to come in and purchase it, because of this policy. Since that time I have purchased from other brands. The boutique texted about a month ago with a Sub date that I turned down, they said to ask my husband, he didn’t want it either. . I know, who turns down a sub date. I’m so tired of the brand, see too many of them out and about. I can’t see me buying another Rolex. Too many other nice brands to be bothered with Rolex.

As many as you can afford and the AD will part with. No rules, only excuses and made up restrictions. Let a real Whale come in and they will leave with whatever they want and as many as they want. I have seen it in person. Our Trusted Sellers will sell you as many as your heart desires and you can afford.

I have bought up to five in one year from my AD, and two to three in a year multiple times.

It all depends on your relationship with your AD and what he's willing to sell to you, there's no limit to what you can buy per year, some buy as much as 5 watches and some gets nothing the whole year! talk to your AD you would know how many he would offer you before the year ends.

It’s whatever each AD decides. I think most try to be fair, and not sell a whole bunch to one person, when so many people want one. I think my AD said one per year, but my walk in purchase didn’t count, because it was someone else’s allocation, who had turned it down. I’ve been promised the next 36 mm Explorer that comes in. I hope it’s soon. They know it’s coming, but not exactly when. Christmas would be cool, I guess.

Kat.
