Older DJ41 VS newer DJ41?
Hey all
I'm on the AD waitlist for the new 41mm DJ (fluted bezel with jubilee bracelet). AD said eta is around 3-6 months. Already 2 months in..(also on waitlist for new Exp2 gmt which is my 1st preference). I have a coworker (high end collector) who's willing to accept my Omega smp ($3.5k trade value) with extra cash ...his trade price is $10k. It's in mint condition with all box/paperwork (plus bezel protector). However, it's the older model with the Rolex calibre 3135. I believe the new model comes with 3235 movement (and AR coating on the sapphire). Is the older model a downgrade VS the newer model? cheers |

Honestly I would do it. The biggest thing is to look at the 41 vs the DJII. They have different looks and it is a personal opinion. That price is fine though.

Very different watches. The older DJ you mention is the DJ2. It’s a bit chunkier than the DJ41. To my eyes the 41 looks better, although it can be a bit of a dinner plate on smaller wrists.

So am I correct in saying the Datejust ii was always with the 3135 movement and the DJ41 only ever came with the 3235…?

Wait for a new watch. You have a timescale, now just wait. You will get the new watch experience and purchase history with the AD. I would wait rather than purchase a second hand older model. A little bit of patience is needed.

The DJ II is far less popular. Sit tight and wait for your new DJ 41 from the AD

The DJ2 was a great watch…… until the DJ41 came out. Wait on your AD.

Wait for a DJ41, and you can sell the SMP anytime.

Never bonded with my DJII as much as I tried, the scale of the sticks and the lettering on the dial was off. After four years I traded it in at the AD I bought it from for a DJ36 and I’ve been thrilled ever since. A year later and it’s still sitting in the display case at the AD.

Definitely wait or if another opportunity arises stick to the DJ41. It’s much improved over the DJII.

I actually love the Datejust 2, but it’s not for everybody. It’s a bigger watch than the Datejust 41. The DJ 2 is actually a 41mm case. The DJ 41 measures like 39 something mm. No idea why they called it a DJ 41. It’s not 41. It’s actually less than 40. You need a pretty big wrist for a DJ 2. Since you are also looking at an Explorer II which measures 42mm, I assume you have the wrist for a DJ 2. But just know going in that they are different size watches.
But also know, there is no Jubilee option on a DJ 2. Oyster only. Since you mentioned that you ordered your DJ 41 with Jubilee, that may be the better option for you if the Jubilee look is what you are after. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
