Aquanaut Availability and Bezel Questions

Hello all, Is Aquanaut (5167) availability improving at all? I am interested in this piece, but not sure how long to wait or whether I'll ever get a call. This would be my first PP (I went through various potential watches with an AD and settled on this for my taste/lifestyle). The AD I visited did not hesitate to put my name down, ask me to buy something else first, or dissuade me in any way. They did mention they don't get many per year and it could be a wait of more than 1 year. Just wondering if they were just being polite and I have zero chance, or if it is realistic to expect one in the next 1-2 years. If I have zero chance, I may go grey market at some point.

Also, I have read in places that the bezel cannot be removed. Is that true? Do you need a new case if you damage the bezel?

That’s one of the advantages of the RO over PP sport watches , that you can remove the bezel on the RO but you can’t with the PP sport models (Nautilus and Aquanaut)

Thanks for confirming. That seems crazy, bezels always get a lot of wear and tear.

I got my 5164r bezel pretty good last night on my outdoor grill making steaks. It happens. As far as availability, 99.9% you won't get one from an AD unless you have some excellent spend history

I believe to remember they happily sell you a new Nautilus top case (= mostly bezel). Even heard a number some years ago when the swap was 4 or 5k for a basic steel Nautilus. Certainly more expensive than a steel RO bezel.

Not worth it , specially when I used to wear my nautis or Aqua, I would be expending 5k every 2 years on it ..lol . It’s even worst in gold , softer

Is the aquanaut bezel part of the mid case?
It looks like a separate part?

The ceramic RO handle this issue nicely.

In my opinion they are just being polite.
They most likely get asked for the same watch at least once per day.
They will prioritize customers with other purchases and it’s logical.

Regarding the bezel that’s also why I prefer steel over gold.
Probably not easy to fix but lazer wielding will help.

yeah AD is being polite. chances at not 0% to few % but who knows miracles do happen

In NYC, one AD they disclosed 700 people on the list for simple 5167 Aquanaut in SS and rubber with clients who have spent hundreds of thousands of dollars. Granted it is NYC - so it might be it different that where OP is

Thanks, I figured they were just being polite. I’ll probably see where things stand in a few months and might go grey.

There is one other factor to consider even if you can be patient and wait 1-2 years. Do you expect your AD to survive future cuts from Patek? I was fortunate enough to get allocations but then my AD lost their status. More cuts are probably on the way.

Good point, and another reason to consider grey sooner. Just hope prices come down a bit.

It's been going down every month. The R is selling for less of a premium if that matters to you at all.

Thanks, more interested in steel, especially after confirming the bezel is not replaceable.

I have the 5167R - it is a bit of a scratch magnet so understand the lure of the steel!
