Might as well use a scotch brite pad on the polished surfaces.

I use hand soap, wash in warm water and dry with a soft cloth. Bog simple, cheap and effective.

Years of extra-soft toothbrush use tells me different. Maybe it’s the unicorn tears that I use for rinsing :)

Dawn dish soap or similar grease cutting dish soap is far superior to anything designed for organic hair/skin. Over time, people soap/shampoo leaves a film and creates a build up in bracelet links.

Dawn will leave a crystal clear sparkling finish.

Simple green (diluted) and I've never had the need to use a brush. If you do it regularly there is no need for build up scum between the links.

I would never use baby soap and a toothbrush. Maybe the babysoap.

Toothbrush can be ok but there's not many bristles per inch compared to a blush brush.

Dawn platinum power wash (pre foamed blue dawn stuff) and an old blush brush with a million soft bristles has been working amazingly well for my gold PCLs.

What do you guys recommend to get in the crevices of models with numbers on the bezel? Ex : GMT Master/Submariner.

On my GMT/Sub there's little dirt/dust or something in the crevices of those numbers on the bezel.

Don’t think I’ve heard the term micro-scratch on a watch case used before.
I assume they are only visible with a microscope or high magnification 60x jewelry loupe.
I’m OCD but I can’t see myself checking the case/bracelet finish that closely for micro-scratches.

I am quite happy with the current results, but I will use Dawn (or Fairy) and will report back if the results are better.

I am sure a few immediate side-effects would be, the watch will be "gluey" for a bit, will take longer to clean, will not smell as nice and I will probably have dry hands for a while after. But hey, if it makes it shiner, then it is worth it

But realistically speaking, how shiny do we want to get? this thing is already reflecting light left and right it is hard to drive while wearing it

Makeup brush. It's like the microfiber of brushes. Way softer than nylon bristles.

Soak the watch in brake cleaner then rinse with an industrial power washer from 1” away.

Perfect results.

Nylon toothbrush bristles can scratch 904L steel?
That’s so bad.
Rolex may as well make their watches out of margarine. Tool watches my aR5e.

If it's dirty enough to need scrubbing it doesn't matter if you get micro scratches from a toothbrush. If anything don't scrub hard until the dirt is mostly loosened off. Pressing dirt/sand back into the polish surface with a toothbrush could scratch it. The bristles not so much.

Same theory as washing a car.

All in all, don't worry about it. Wash it however and it's fine. These things are meant to be worn.

I don’t know why anyone would want to get their Rolex wet, that’s a sure fire way to get the stickers to peel off.

I use a nylon brush from wrist clean, and dawn soap. It’s insanely soft. If it scratches, i haven’t noticed. I could probably just wash them with a little dawn soap and my fingers, but i think the brush works nicely. they are very lose bristles and do a nice job of cleaning out the inside of the clasp after wearing it for a few weeks.

Even the softest of tooth brushes have bristles that are very close together and tight. I don’t think that’s the best route for cleaning. It’s a tooth brush, built to clean teeth. It has to be semi abrasive to clean teeth.

It’s all nonsense though when you think about it. If you just throw a little soap on it and rinse it off, that’s more than enough. If you’re in salt water constantly, maybe a bit deeper clean. The harshest environment my watches see are a bath/hot tub or my golf bag. They require so little maintenance to last nearly forever.

It's funny how people are afraid to use an extra soft toothbrush on their watch but won't think twice of sticking it in their mouth.
