Variations in modern watches

In the vintage section I am amazed at the number of variations in dial fonts of 5513 and 1675 models. Have there been any dial or font variations discovered in current models that have been around for many years?

Early models were extensively studied so that enthusiasts would know what went with what, when, and for how long.

Now days it's a different type of enthusiast buying newer models, and simply needing the "latest and greatest".

There is always variation, so at some point in time, others will begin poring over the latest crop too.

The wider variety of fonts and styles of dial printing often resulted from subcontractors doing the dials. Now, Rolex makes their own and QC is tighter so the variations are much less in the modern models.

I might be wrong but i doubt it. Modern production methods and the introduction to controls have almost completely eliminated the opportunity to alter even the minutist detail. And to do so it would need to be signed off in triplicate. I should imagine back when dials where all painted by hand and the products where largely built by one person rather than on a production line you might have seen a little more variation based on the employees skill levels.

In the real world there has always been tiny font, spacing, colour changes on most all Rolex models over the past 50 years and always will be.

The current sub C has subtle variations.

Look at the 1000 ft in the top and bottom

Thats down to one simple fact dials are made in 3 different factories now all owned by Rolex so batch to batch there will always be tiny variations and nothing new much like it has over the past 50 years.
