Pictures of my Turn-o-graph

I know that the Rolex Turn-o-graph is not a particularly popular watch, probably because of its hybrid design which incorporates the feature of the rotatable bezel on to the venerable datejust casing. While the rotatable bezel is a distinctive feature on Rolex's sports watches such as the Submariner or the Sea Dweller, where it serves one of the crucial features of the dive watch ie to measure elapsed time, it does look out of place to the traditional datejust fan. On the other hand fans of Rolex sports watches will never go for the Turn-o-graph because of its relatively smaller size, 36mm only. Hence it seems that Rolex has got itself into a bit of a fix with the Turn-o-graph, with a watch design which may seem to be neither here nor there.

Yet, despite having struggled with the issues as stated above, I found myself buying one in April this year to celebrate the achievement of a career milestone. I know it was more an emotional decision rather than a rational one.

Since I already own a TT datejust I decided to go for something a little different within the datejust family. At the AD what really caught my eye were the combination of the red second hand, the red lettering and the white dial. So against my better judgement I could not resist buying the TT Turn-o-graph.

I guess it is always difficult to rationalise one's buying decision especially after the fact but I believe these pictures speak a thousand words.

A great choice...

Great photos that really bring out the beauty of the TOG. Wear it in good health.

I just bought a TTDJ (116233) and it was a hard decision between it and the TOG. Now that I have a TT, I'm looking real hard at a SS TOG. Hopefully in the near future.

John,
Congratulations on your new TTDJ. Great choice.

My TTDJ is an earlier model with the older Jubilee bracelet. Before I purchased the TOG I wasn't sure I would like the new heavier style jubilee without the clasp. Now that I've had my TOG for 2 months I must say that the new style Jubilee is a much improved design. I just love the way the whole bracelet wraps around the wrist, not to mention the heftier feel due to the solid centre links. I don't miss the old clasp at all.

Thank you dannytam. I selected the oyster bracelet for my DJ and I want the Jubilee on the SS TOG. I'm not much of a photographer but I hope to do some some photos on my DJ soon.

Nice pics and I understand the premise of the TOG kinda like a hybrid, but I prefer the Old Style TOG.

Thats a pretty watch! Im growing quite fond of the TOG! excellent pictures too what camera did you use?

I have recently been able to afford my First rolex(GMT II) and i actually loved it so much i bought another to sell on, im looking for a Seadweller or somthing a little more unusual like a milgauss or a TOG, but end of the day i think, despite my limited rolex knowledge, that Rolie's are the ultimate! i love them

Beautiful watch, Danny. I also love the red second hand and red lettering on the white background. And the new Jubilee bracelet is the cat's meow. I wish I could replace the old Jubilee on my TTDJ with the new one (but true to form, Rolex engineered it to prevent retrofits ).

Wear that TOG in good health and enjoy.

Hi James,
Sorry for the late reply. I actually use a Canon EOS 400D with a Tokina macro lens. Great camera which I wouldn't hesitate to recommend.

I'm by no means a datejust only guy. I'm also a fan of Rolex's sports watches which IMHO are the real McCoys. The rest are just wannabes. I've got myself the Submariner, Yacht Master, Explorer I and GMTII.

Still dreaming of getting myself the SS Daytona one day. My AD has a pair of the white dial and black dial in stock. I can't bring myself to pay the large premium that he's asking for.

Danny you take the best pictures on the forum....no doubt at all I've saved some of your earlier ones. Could you post your collection on the "picture gallery" ? Especially the GMT II......As I said on one of your earlier picture posts, if you are not a professional photographer then you have missed your vocation !!!!!!!!!!!!!

Actually having just looked through the "watch gallery" section, you have already posted the sub and the exp1, as well as the tog.Now we really need to see the GMT II get well and truly "Danny'd"........

Peter,
Appreciate your kind words of encouragement. Actually I can't even begin comparing my photos with the work of the real lensmasters here like Mike and Jocke who simply post beautiful Rolex photos consistently.

I do have a GMTII with Pepsi bezel. I'll try to oblige with some photos in the near future.

Great photos of a great watch. It may have a rotating bezel, but it is very discreet about it.

Great Pictures

Great Pictures. I have the exact same watch and one of the things I like most about it is because it's relatively rare. Nice combo of sports and elegance. Wear it in good health my friend.

Danny incredible looking watch, but even better pictures. You bring out the best with your photography.

What camera are you using.

Being new to Rolex I never heard of the TOG, but it is an incredible watch, a beauty.

Suprised it's not more popular.
