Seikos
So I have been reading a few articles on the Grand Seiko spring drive watches on various forums. I must say it is an impressive watch but is it worth the $3000-4000USD? I mean I have said that many of their watches are worth 5-10 times their asking price but isnt this a bit much?
What are you thoughts? |

I have the same feeling. I started liking their watches after reading on different Seiko forums recently. Already planned to buy one diver watch / compass. Also, have set my eyes on the Credor Phoenix. The only problem I see is the after sale service for these 'made for Japan' watches.

I really know almost nothing about Seikos. I have an old Seiko solar powered digital. It's about 20 years old and I finally had to change the battery for the first time about a month ago. Not too shabby for a quartz watch. But other than that, my knowledge of them would fit on the head of a pin and still leave room for a couple of angels.

The Grand Seikos are beautiful watches and worth every penny. They can easily compete with the likes of Rolex for build quality and accuracy. We don't get GS's here in Canada, but I have seen a few on the wrists of diplomats and can attest they are beautiful.
Sadly in North America, the brand is spoiled by being seen as a quartz special maker of realitively cheap watches. All the autos made by Seiko are superb value and Seiko, like Rolex... is all in-house. |
