Datejust 36 crystal replacement

Is it possible to fit a replacement crystal from a 36mm Oyster Perpetual or 36mm Explorer 1 on a Datejust 36 without compromising water proofing integrity?

(I asked on the general forum and people had no idea. But they had plenty of opinions of whether this was a good idea or not. But I wasn't really asking for an opinion from the "good taste police" and people advising on used watch valuations which I wasn't asking about either.)

Knowing the model numbers of the watches would make it easier to answer your question. Why not just use a Datejust crystal…are you going for a different look? And isn’t the Datejust an OP?

Edit: I just saw your other post saying that you want to eliminate the cyclops. Replacement crystals are available with and without cyclops and a watchmaker could easily do the replacement.

I've had a few requests for this at the shop I work at, so OP isn't alone in their preference.

I'm currently unable to access our parts site to get the crystal part number, but I'm confident it exists. An AD likely won't fulfill the request, but another watchmaker probably would if a crystal can be acquired.

I've replaced the crystal on many of my Rolex watches (at the boutique or a certified repair location) and still swim with them in the ocean.

The TrueDome D29 aand D21 will both fit Datejust 36mm 4 digit references. If its a modern Rolex with sapphire im not sure which reference number that crystal is but acrylic will not safely retrofit.
