Can Cyclops lens leaks

Hi,
I’m not sure buy I have a feeling that my explorer II can leaks. You can see it on photos. Should I take it for a service? I didn’t swim with it just setting in jacuzzi and realized that they are air bubbles around cyclops lens.

Not to create agita, but something looks off with your date wheel to me underneath the cyclops. Red flag.

It is glued on. Perhaps the heat has compromised the glue although as others have pointed out, the magnification seems off for a legit Rolex.

Maybe because of the water reflection out of water date looks fine for me. What you think?

It’s not magnifying 2.5 times imo. Are you sure it’s gen? Blue spots are normal as light refracts and interacts with glue/sapphire/cyclops but date looks too small

Pretty interesting, OP. I never realized that about the cyclops underwater. As others have said, the cyclops is glued on. You’re fine.

Looks fine in your picture (post #10). It could be lint around the cyclops, I get that as well with mine, just use a microfiber cloth/eyeglasses cloth and you'll be good

I don't know. I bought from grey market dealer year ago. Watch looks fine box and papers are good too.

It’s prob from that time a few years ago when rolex was using low mag cyclopses and quietly removed the 2.5 claim from its website.

As others have said the Cyclops is glued on. If anything the area of the Cylcops is the most robust to leaks because it's two layers of sapphire stacked on top of each other. The bubbles are probably just air bubbles in the water catching the edges of the cyclops, similar to what you see going on around the bezel and crown in the pic aswell.

Regarding the comments on the magnification being wrong this is normal as the refraction index of glass is almost equal to water which is why there doesn't appear to be any magnification going on submerged.

On the original pictures the magnification looks too small BUT THAT’S NORMAL AS PHOTO IS TAKEN UNDER WATER. Nothing wrong with your watch OP.

I don't act the role of a scientist on TV but I am one in real life. It's very common for air bubbles to cling to crevices and roughness due to surface tension. That it all you are seeing. Air bubbles at the edge of the magnifying glass where it interfaces with the crystal. It's simply a piece of glass attached to the crystal by glue and nothing more. The glue has been hardened and cured. There is nothing there to leak.

Those are not air bubbles ‘under’, they’re slow release and absorption from the dust and dirt which gets caught around the cyclops. They’re not smooth like the glass and this creates an imbalance of smoothness so the result is air resting in the area on the dust and dirt. Plus the temperature transfer from a sapphire onto the glued synthetic magnifier results in the uneven adjustment. Happens in aquariums all the time.

Clean your cyclops with an lens wipe with alcohol, let try then resubmerge and you’ll see no bubbles.
