Starbucks Mk1 vs 2

Hi gang,

I have the Hulk, however, I want a Starbucks, too. Probably stupid I know, but I like the new 41mm case, movement etc. However, I want to get the version of green that is most dissimilar to my Hulk. It is very difficult to tell from the pictures if the Mark one Dial or the Mark two Dial is closest to the Hulk. Has anyone seen both in person and is able to verify? Thank you so much!

Mark 1 is similar to Hulk. Mark 2 is less similar; more of a “lime” color.

It isn’t really 41mm. More like 0.3mm larger.

I can understand why you would want one though based upon the black dial aesthetic.

Mk1 green is the same as the Hulk and is discontinued. Mk2 is current version (2023+) and is more lime/Kermit green that’s why it’s referred to as Cermit (Ceramic + Kermit).

MKII the new green bezel color similar to the original Kermit. Which was released last year.

Cheers,

MK1 is darker so with the green dial (in the Hulk case) it would look nice because the lighter dial would tone it down but in case of the Cermit or Avocado like someone named it then the dark black dial would suit the lighter MK2. This is just my opinion after seeing both :)

The hulk and the mk1 Starbucks have identical colored bezels. Get the mk2. My buddy just got one and loves it.

Been waiting on one of these from my (previously very good) AD for coming up 9 months now... was flip-flopping with the idea of pulling the plug and just getting a 'hulk' instead.

I too couldn't discern between the Mk1 and 2 via a computer screen and lighting will always affect photos - so very helpful to have it explained in such a simple way

Yes, definitely get the MK2 version, as the bezel on MK1 would be the exact same as your Hulk.

I always felt the bezel on hulk when I had it was too pastel green - i love the deeper shade on the mk2 and is closer to the kermit

Get the first version.
Enjoy it.
In time, if bezel breaks and needs replacement, Bam! You now have the latest version.

Kidding aside, unless you go grey, there is only one version AD will offer.
And it’s not crazy to own Hulk as well. I own both. Very different although same bezel.

Mk1 trades lower than the Mk2 so if you’re looking for the best value over time then Mk1 is better as not only does it cost a good few hundred less it will likely be worth more than the Mk2 in time if as presumed the Mk2 isn’t discontinued for a number of years meaning there will be far less of the Mk1 around as it had a relatively short production run of only 3 years so the Mk1 should turn out similar to the hulk performance wise post 2030.

Seems like you’re not too concerned about future value and more the colour therefore you should just go for whatever colour you prefer.

Best of luck to you.

You actually make a really good point. I originally wanted a different color from my hulk but I need to think. I wish I could see both in person :(

Padi enjoys coming into nearly every thread and dumping his garbage, dragging down most conversations by fighting the futile fights such as the nicknames for watches. Swimming upstream, if you will. He enjoys that.

He threatened us all years ago that he was quitting TRF because the community had changed at it was too much for him. What with people calling watches investments and all; he was fed up. But I guess he chickened out on quitting cold turkey. Tens of thousands of posts later, I don't know if he's contributed much of late besides the sarcasm.

I have the Starbucks with MKII bezel. I love the color and much prefer it to the MKI. My buddy has a hulk and here is a pic of the 2 side by side if that helps.
