Got a new toy today! (watch content)

Back in 2008 I purchased a Casio G-Shock Riseman (G-9200) but was disappointed when the sensor failed after a year or so. Anytime it got wet the readings would go away until it was fully dry. One day they never came back which was a true shame. The watch works great otherwise but one of the main reasons I went for that was for the functionality.

Anyway, I found an excellent eBay deal on a brand new Casio Protrek PRW2500R-1 and it arrived today!

With my G-Shock Riseman purchased in 2008

The watch is massive but is ideal for me to wear when running, cycling, etc.

Here's the rest of my current collection

I'm going to be picking up a Breitling in the next two months or so and I'm excited for that as well! Many more to come and I'm open to any suggestions

Like your Raymond Weil, that brand was my first watch purchase. Brings back fond memories.

Do not want to depress you, but I had a few Pro Treks and related models and they went kablooey early in their lives. Hope you got a good specimen.

Thanks, Jason! Believe it or not that was also my first Swiss watch purchase ever (at age 19). Unfortunately the actual piece was sold a year or two later to a high school friend.

I was fortunate enough to find the one shown above locally for a great price. It needs new gaskets but I've been too busy acquiring new pieces.

That's actually very good to know, thanks! I was super paranoid after the G-Shock sensor died and passed on the Rangeman.

Did your Protrek have any issues when it got wet? I always found that rather ironic with my Riseman. A 200 meter water resistant piece marketed as an impact resistant tool able to handle skydiving yet a few lane swim sessions / moisture helped kill the sensor (I'm assuming).

I'm going to baby this Protrek and for any extreme abuse the G-Shock will be the one.

Indeed! Timex started it all for me as a kid on the 90s with the ironman.

From watchcharts.com

The G-Shock obsession started shortly after and even now that I'm into Swiss watches Casio (clearly) has it's place for me also.

I was blown away at the quality compared to my Seiko. The strap is great but I'm more or a bracelet guy and waiting for an eBay seller to receive more stock of the OEM Citizen bracelet for that piece. It's got solid end links and all, excellent feel and quality.
