Breitling Aerospace EVO - am i going crazy?
My tastes tend to run fairly traditional. Omega, Rolex, JLC, Cartier...but for some reason I have been lusting after an Aerospace Evo, specifically in the black titanium with the brown strap. I can't for the life of me figure out why i like it so much, but I can't shake it. Am I losing it or do others have an appreciation for these EVOs too?

If your going to keep it do it up! If your going to flip it it's gonna hurt a bit. Resale value is poor.

I was thinking grey market, as a hold. its coming to either that or a Panerai luminor 8 days. only similarities are that they're both outside my normal wheelhouse.

Lots of pilots and military wear the breitling evo (and breitling in general). Something to consider.

The ones with multiple log scales like the Navitimer might be useful in a pinch. And that'd be like a million to one shot. Or just for fun to see if you can remember your old pencil and paper navigation homework from ground school. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I are a pilot and that's why I was wondering? Just pulling your leg as I have never seen a real pilot use any of the multi faceted features for anything. I do know pilots who own them, but they don't use them for any type of navigation, more of a conversation piece than anything else.
In my early days doing nav duties in a 707 (pre-INS) the crews would simply synchronize the three clocks on the flight deck with WWV and move on. Of the four on the flight deck only the Navigator really used the time when he did cel nav. The periscopic sextant had a place for watch like a pocket watch to be mounted but it was not used. Most navs back then had a watch that was good enough for nav duties as long as it was also checked against WWV. Few pilots but not many had a Rolex GMT. I had a Seiko Navigator with the rotating bezel. As a matter of fact I still own that watch that I bought in HKG back in 1967. Looks and runs like new |

I got a Breitling for my 18th bday, now that I am 45 I would not. Some are nice but I don't think they are a very good watch purchase, but if tou like it why not, just try to go used or at least at a huge discount

I think the Evo is definitely more appealing than the previous version, with the improved bracelet, lume pip, case size, etc. One thing that's always annoyed me about the Aerospace is how the backlight constantly comes on while trying to change functions! I recently did a full video review on the Evo for anyone who's interested: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nFLXdgVtjSU&t=330s

I looked at that watch, it is very nice.
Then I asked myself why was I buying it and what would it add to my collection? Then I passed.

I think its the big 12-3-6-9 numericals on the dial. I even think the hands are small for the watch, but then I don't care. Still want one. haha Not the mention the full functionality of chronograph, alarm countdown timer. And then its the minute repeater, its just a lot of the fun to wear, comfortable too. AND it works well with almost any 22mm strap. :)
