What’s the situation in London these days?

I’m visiting London for about 1.5 weeks and leaving this wkend. Anyone have any relationships with an AD there? Obvious a long shot, but would be nice to pick up a stainless piece while I’m there.

Heathrow T2 outlet for DD - platinum and YG - and lots of DJ. Look for “Raj” or “Andy”.

Cheers

There are lot of people in London with relationships with AD who likely can get anything they want but unless u know them personally it is very unlikely they will introduce a stranger from the US to their AD/SA contact

one of the hardest cities in the world to get a stainless sports watch. Not sure where your visiting from, but you may well have a better chance from you local AD.

I was there mid-February. I went to a number of ADs... I think one had a silver OP 36mm.

When I asked about 39mm OPs or a Sub, they literally chuckled at me. In a friendly way... of course!

This was the same story all over Europe.

Other than totally lucking out, and even then probably only a DJ or OP, you have nil chance.

Except at Heathrow on the way back home, as they do for sure get hot steel models which you can buy if you luck out. You’ll have to ask, and beat the Pilots to the watches, but it is definitely a possibility.

As others have said. No chance. I was in London a couple of weeks ago. No steel sports, usual story. Lots of local big spenders in London who will get the call on hot models.

Only thing you are likely to get is a Corona Virus!!!!

UK ADs WON'T sell and 'wanted' models to watch tourists!

Took the airport AD, who is very friendly mind you, 9 months to get a gold Daytona in for me. Had already given up and bought it, and with the new price and stronger pound the price delta worked out to about 5 grand more!

Vacationing in London this week, walked into the AD near Convent Garden station this weekend-

Me: “good morning! I’ve come from across the pond to tell you a joke”

SA: “oh really, let’s hear it”

Me: “Actually, I’m just here to buy a Daytona”

All SAs: LOL

I did have my hulk on the wrist so it was all pretty lighthearted. Have been on the hunt for a SkyD, so they did pull a TT one out from the back for me to try on.

They had a small case with some preowned SS, including hulk, 116520 black, 16710 Pepsi, and 116710LBNR, but all at grey prices.

Empty cases otherwise.

Don't even think about it, your totally wasting your time and energy. Enjoy London for what it is, forget Rolex.

Good advice! Either get one at home, if you are willing to wait an arbitrary and ambitious amount of time, or just buy gray.

Enjoy London OP!

Plenty of choice on Burlington Arcade ...... just not at retail price.

Alas, unlikely a SS to buy at London AD. Come to think of it, you have a higher possibility of being robbed for your Rolex.

It will be funny when I next go into an ADs and handle a £30K watch and then furiously scrub my hands absolutely clean right in front of them.

This virus and Rolex may just have a connection after all.

If we do get a huge economic crash the ball is back in our court.

PM Daytona’s for example will start to stack up in cases for weeks and months. The days when 20% is achievable on them.

Was in London 2 weeks ago. SA at WOS in the city noted they had a 31 people on list for the white face explorer 2. stopped by wempe and wos on bond as well and they had significantly fewer pieces on display than in NYC.

UK ADs have more and are getting more core stock at the moment due to less shipping to China.
Expect to see more SS date justs and TT models over the next few months as well as some OPs, milgauss and explorers.

ADs don't seem an enjoyable outting to me. I wouldn't even bother.
