Being summer I thought it would be a great idea to do a review of what I believe is the best tool watch on the planet; the Tudor Pelagos, this one in blue. As it is hot I decided to put it on the blue rubber. As I am on my phone pictures will appear at the end.

Dial

Matte blue, non sunburst but varies with lighting. This thing is blue no doubt. It is a very clean look and somewhat industrial but not overly cold. I think it works in both summer and winter as the lume color uncharged is snow white. The text matches the lume and white hands perfectly. The lume is a cannon. The polts are over filled and puff up. This may not be for some but for me I like it as it isnt surgical flat like a modern Rolex.

The dial has a sunken face with a 90 degree minute track which allows the dial to flow seemlessly up to the matching bezel. Very stunning visually. It all sits under a flat sapphire crystal with no cyclops which I appreciate.

Case

42mm wide and 14.1mm thich with 50 mm lug to lug. The case is pronounced but not chunky. The crown guards are pointy. He value for saturation diving. The watch is rated to 500m which is more than a sub and less than a seadweller. It is titanium which means on the rubber strap it is under 100 grams at 94 grams. The lugs are skinny yet tall and the beveling is fantastic. The titanium is not as easily scratched as stainless steel based on my observations. It will also pick up a slight patina is uncleaned.

Bezel

60 click unidirectional with a ceramic insert and lume. Like the dial the bezel insert is matte blue. The coin edge is easy to grip wet. The 60 clicks are extremely crisp and very surgical. Not sure which i prefer between 120 and 60 but again you know when you are moving it. It does not move without decent counter clockwise pressure. The lume is the selling point for me. No other Rolex or Tudor has it. Very unique and incredibly legible and useful in low or no lighting situations.

Strap

The strap I have it on is a very comfortable oem blye rubber. The clasp is the Tudor crown in titanium. It fits to the watch case via endlinks which I prefer as it is secure and seamless. The selling point of the watch is the normal clasp that is used on the titanium bracelet. It is fantastic and moves with your wrist if you desire. It is spring loaded and you can read more on it elsewhere.

Conclusion

If you enjoy water sports, swimming, ocean activities or scuba diving you should own a Tudor Pelagos. Even if you don't consider it. To me, for the money, it is the best swiss luxury tool watch made. Everything about it is utiltiy however if you like variation the blue or left hand drive may be the model that pushes you to take the plunge. I've never regretted it. Now, to plunge into the pool....

that is an interesting question. it is definately comfy and fits like a glove. the clasp is what differentiates the watch from the subc. no pinching either similar to the subc.

this one fits better imo because if the lug design, flatter caseback and end links that dont extend out past the lugs.

Tough question. I have skinny wrists. I’ve always considered my BLNR and North Flag (40mm each) the biggest I could handle.

But after your review and the pictures, I love this blue titanium beauty. Subjectively, does it wear big? It looks perfect on you.

And does it come with the blue strap?

Such a cool watch. Too big for my wrist though and I was not a fan of 5 lines of text on the dial. Tudor knows how to build watches.

I found a used blue Pelagos that looks interesting. I have several questions I could not find the answer to on the Tudor website.

1) What is the warranty period for a watch that sold in December of 2017? Are the terms the same as for Rolex; transferable to subsequent owners with the warranty card? Do you send the watch to a RSC if work is needed?

2) Has anyone replaced the original crystal with a cyclops version. Is there a specific crystal from another Tudor or Rolex model that would provide the same watertight seal and have the "eye" in the correct position?

3 year warranty. Same terms as rolex.

You can add a cyclops on top of the crystal without replacing the crystal.

Really nice watch but I tired of the blue and traded if off.

I bought one of these instead to scratch that itch without having nearly $3K invested in a "Blueish" dial.

I wanted a Pelagos for a while. I finally got one (here, from a great seller).

I wear a DJ41 daily, but I had to send it into the shop, so I had a good chance to get to know the Blue Pelagos.

I grew VERY fond of it. I loved it when I got it, and I loved it way more after wearing it for a month straight.

It's got a lot of that Rolex thing going on, only at a much kinder price. One thing it has that Rolex doesn't is a modern flare. Tudor does some things that Rolex just can't...because history I guess.

The fit and finish of mine was spot on. Very desirable lines, edges, textures and finishes.

So many small bits of cool that add up to a really nice whole. It's well thought out, just right.

thanks again for the fine review. I have owned mine for 12 days now and it keeps great time. Maybe -1 sec per day while wearing but plus 1 to 2 sec/night if I store it crown up, so I can keep it right on without resetting it. Very comfortable with titanium bracelet but I have just switched to the blue rubber one. Had to buy the $150 spring bar pliers to switch bracelets but the pliers work GREAT (Bergeon 7825).
