Pending Ladies President purchase
Hello
I have been wearing Rolex watches since 1975 and have a number of pieces in my collection and I have always purchased new from a Rolex AD. That said, I have been looking for birthday gift for my wife and recently found a like new condition ladies yellow gold Z series President model 179178 for sale at a reputable jeweler in Florida who is not an AD. Included with the watch is original warranty (perforated serial number and sale date listed 2/2007 Milano Italy) red warranty case, presentation box and outer box. The watch appears to be new with a very tight bracelet new style gold bracelet. The green Rolex seal on the back of the watch is still intact with minimal wear. Lastly, I was told the watch has just been clean and serviced. In addition, the jeweler will provide a two week return policy and a two year warranty on the watch. Lastly, as a safety precaution, I called Rolex to verify the watch is clean and had not been stolen. Unfortunately, I was told they could not help me in checking the serial number. (After sending all my watches to Rolex for service these many years !!!!!) My questions are the following: I live in Atlanta and am wondering if there are any highly reputable independent Rolex service in the area that could verify the watch is a real Rolex and if so verify it has not been stolen. I have heard even first class jewelers can be fooled. Should I go ahead and send the watch to Rolex for an appraisal in which they inspect the watch and movement for insurance purposes Or based on the description and information provided am I be overly cautious Thank you for any and all feedback |

Welcome to TRF!
There are a few Rolex certified watchmakers here in ATL area - and they won't be fooled by a replica. But even they don't have a way to tell if it's on a stolen watch list. I think you will need to buy the seller first - so you're being appropriately cautious with an unknown seller. I buy & sell for friends and associates and I always have my incoming items checked and in over 50 deals no bad ones. When it is a gift, like when I buy for my wife, I use an AD or from a single-owner personal seller who has all the paperwork and receipts. Maybe that would be a better option if you want 100% certainty. Good luck in the quest.
