Rose Gold Becomes Yellow Gold

Has anyone experienced their Rose Gold Pateks yellow over time? I’ve seen a 10+ year old 5712R that looks like it’s made of yellow gold. It would suck if we need to polish a watch just to bring back its color.

I noticed this on a friend's 5970R a few years ago. It seems to happen on older rose gold alloys. I don't know if it requires polishing or just a cleaning session.

Absolutely. A light buff can bring back the original color but I love the faded rose look.

A light buff works great, but it just sucks if we need to polish a watch just to restore the color.

I think putting the watch in a ziploc when not in worn might help. But it’s just a little bit silly and inconvenient.

It’s not air causing this change over time. The non gold alloy elements in rose gold (copper…) over time come to the surface. A mild polish will “correct” if you wish.
