I've have a "P" series no-date Sub with an Oct 2000 manufacture code on the clasp. Question: Do I have the 14060 or the 14060M? My confusion arises from the fact that it simply says 14060 on box and receipt, and with the "P" serial number, it should be an "M" version. I just wanted to know if this watch has the newer movement. I have no idea why I need to know such things--I just do.

Well the 14060M was introduced 2001,so I would say yours is the 14060.Now both movement as to timekeeping not much between them.Both capable to be within COSC specs.Take the bracelet off model number between lugs at 12 Oclock.

Yours is the older movement (without the letter "M"). This would be the calibre 3000 with 27 jewels.

The new movement is the 3130 with 31 jewels.

Redline John - I have the 14060 as well, and its a great watch. Keeping time within COSC... there was even a week that it was spot on, straight!

I bought this virtually perfect P-series 14060 last week from Timekeeper. I can find no sign of it having ever being worn and was attracted to it because of its classic simplicity.

Everything I learned from this site turned out to be top-drawer advice when purchasing a preowned Rolex. In fact, I'm now accousting strangers on the street and telling they need a Rolex and to by it from Timekeeper, only after they consult TRF!!

My other, a TT DJ, I purchased new 15 years ago and is now at Dallas RSC for a dial change (silver pyramid with Roman to an ivory pyramid with Roman.)

Again, thanks to all of your wisdom here at TRF. I'm a happy guy--as long as my wife doesn't find out.

John I have been around Rolex for many many years,and I can assure you all the movements are excellent.Now myself would sat the finest movement ever made were the 15XX series.Now my 5513 is keeping to +2 secs a day, on wrist, or winder,in reality the COSC today IMHO is now nothing but a marketing ploy.

Thanks, PADI. I'm not sophisticated enough yet to really appreciate all the movements and their differences. But I am perfectly happy with both my watches and am increasingly curious about many of the finer points discussed by you and others on TRF. Thanks!!

Basicly John the movements have changed very little over the last 40 years.
