Rolex and Canada

Why has Rolex, over the years, seem to have frequently released certain models or features on specific models in Canada.

I've seen this over and over again and wonder if anyone has an answer. I've never found anything in my research.

Thanks

Goes without saying. I wonder if because of our population being so much smaller than the US, but we share a continent, that perhaps we were a test bed for certain features? Dunno.

Wonder if its got anything to do with the very early days of Rolex, they were in Canada before the US.Now after a couple of years in the wilderness; Rolex decided to give the US market another try. This was after they had been approached by Zell Brothers, a jewellery store chain in the Pacific North West of the USA, headquartered in Seattle. Zell had seen the great success of Rolex in Canada, and in Vancouver in particular (Seattle and Vancouver are only about 150km apart). They asked to be made the exclusive importer for Rolex in the Pacific North West, and Rolex eager to get a US foot hold accepted their proposal. The strange thing is that, despite the Canadian success either Zell or Rolex decided not to use the famed "Oyster" name but substituted the name Turtle Timer, (IMHO undoubtedly Zell)now this was quite a long time ago.But over the years there have been quite a few models exclusive to Canadian and English market. Now Rolex US is now a seperate company, from the parent Swiss company.

Zell Rolex Turtle Timer.
