BP Bathyscaphe - forget trends, smaller isn't better
The open dial and thin bezel are hallmarks of the Bathyscaphe. The new 38mm version loses both of these elements. The proportions are just wrong for a vintage/modern blend, even if the blue of the dial remains nice.
Sometimes bigger is simply better. |

I also prefer the larger version of this watch.

I love the looks of the larger one, but could never wear it (6.5" wrist). I am excited to try the 38mm on, it's a fantastic looking piece in its own right.

I like that 39m version...reminds me of a Tudor Snowflake with the fat hands.
My only gripe is the watch should have some crown guards since it is a sports watch...that large (expensive) crown is looking to get smacked. I would prefer if Blancpain released a 40mm version of the Standard 50 Fathoms...they did this for a special edition during the anniversary but they need to make that a standard product. Maybe do it in just blue so it does not match the black anniversary. |

Looks like they tried too hard to make this into something it shouldn't be.
I far prefer the larger version as well. |

I really like both. The original always seemed slightly too big for my wrist, but was always my favorite diver. I am really excited to try and find the 38mm, but I am not that into blue watches, but at least hope to try it on.

I don't like either. And that date placement makes it even worse...

I see the 38 as a mid-size or ladies size (both of those terms do sound a bit dated). The Bathy is great at 43, and even the regular FF wears smaller than you would believe a 45 would.

The size is good, the dial not so much (the proportions aren't right).
I wish they would give it a more vintage feel. Lose the dots, give it a matte dial etc. More pictures: https://monochrome-watches.com/blanc...mitment-price/ |

i think it looks great ,,, love the dots , very nipple dial esque , especially with the big looking crown , sort of like a nipple dial 5510.

Doesn't matter because the date window kills this model regardless.

I like the size and the date but the bezel looks odd to me. I prefer the 43mm after all
