Review of Rolex GMT Master II 16710

I guess this was never shared here in the review forum. Enjoy the writeup!

Thanks for this Juho

I’d forgotten that there is actually a practical reason for having the 120 click bezel on the GMT.

With the BLRO 216710 Rolex ruined the GMT , making it an hybrid between GMT and Submariner . Maxi-case , maxi-dial and ... Triplock !!! That´s why everybody searchs the 16710 .

I also think it was cool that GMT and Explorers had the smaller twinlock crown. They had their own character and personality.

"Batman" and the new ones are great watches no doubt but the looks leave me completely cold. I don't see the attraction. But then again I'm past 40 and I grew up with the old Rolex models.

Great write-up, I’ve had a 5 digit Coke for about 8 years and love the feeling I get every time I put it on my wrist. It will be my son’s watch one day as it’s the watch most connected to his childhood.

Separate note, I see you’re from Finland, I’m reading your review from Rovaniemi, here with my wife and son visiting Santa’s Village!

Thanks, what a great article - except one thing...I too have the same K series 16710 originally purchased for @ $5100, including tax. On average this watch can be purchased today for anywhere between $10,500 and $13,000. That’s a 100-150% increase compared to today’s 116710BLRO market price of about 80% over MSRP. In just 2 short years since this article was published, look how much this watch has skyrocketed on the grey market. Only time will tell where this horology roller-coaster will take us!

Yes. It's just 2,5 years when this article was written. The prices started from 6K (euros) back then.

Is it the supply shortage of the 6-digits or what? I don't know. And why just GMT? Why not the Sea-Dweller 16600 which is much rarer and more exclusive "top model"? Strange, especially when 16570 is still relatively cheap.

GMT 16710 was produced in very high numbers. The current asking prices are difficult to understand.

This watch will without a doubt be back down in the low 9k range very soon (or I’m hoping so).

Yes the current prices are just... well... stupid. I sincerely hope the prices come down just for us collectors. Nobody benefits from the bubble prices.

Enjoyed this one too JP. One of the coolest looking GMT. Love the aluminum on duo color GMT bezels. Don't know why but I think the cerachrome works best on black. Reason why I decided to get my GMT form Tudor.

Looks really good to me :)

I think it would be going for this instead of the 126710!
