Current status of my collection...

Hi everyone, thought I'd share a quick snap of my personal collection. Love this hobby, :)

Each watch commemorates a life event so here's to having at least 3 more significant life events so I can fill up the box (my OCD makes it hard to see those empty slots every time I open up the box).

(Apologies that the picture came out a bit blurry...)

I like to switch it up with straps/natos so rare to see them all in their original set ups.

Beautiful collection and box. A 16610 LV would fit in perfectly.

Funny you mention that! I actually have one (full set) but it's not technically part of my collection as it was bought years back to hold onto and flip down the road...it's not the right watch for me for a few different reasons so it just sits in the safe for now. These watches were bought to commemorate life events as I mentioned and are worn regularly.

Very nice! What are the candidates for the remaining three slots on the list?

Thanks for asking...I was actually thinking about sharing a quick blurb but figured most won't care...BUT since you asked so nicely, :)

16710: My first Rolex. Gift from my parents for my college graduation. At the start of my senior year, they told me I could pick one and upon graduation, I would receive it. Had a picture of a nice GMT as my desktop wallpaper on my computer all year as motivation.

1016: My first venture into vintage. Purchased as a commemoration gift for the birth of my first child.

116234: My only modern. Fell in love with it after watch the "Week on the Wrist" by Hodinkee. Purchased to celebrate a promotion at work. Interesting story around this one: https://www.rolexforums.com/showthread.php?t=366337

1680: Purchased the year my 2nd child was born and an even more interesting story with this one: https://www.rolexforums.com/showthread.php?t=490798

1803: Most recent acquisition (have only had it for a month) to celebrate a work promotion. Posted an "incoming" thread here as it also has a bit of an interesting story: https://www.rolexforums.com/showthread.php?t=556987

That's a very nice collection so far!

Any idea what might be next for you? I feel your pain with the empty slots..my box has one and I cringe when I see it..

So as of now, I'd love to finish off the collection with these...but I hope I can save quicker than the rate of increase I'm seeing on the prices because I may never be able to afford one!
  • 6263 Big Red
  • 1680/8 or 16808 (since the former is so much more $$$)
  • Omega Speedmaster (haven't really narrowed down which one yet)

HAHA, I'm not the only one then!

These are the ones I've been eyeing for years...but the prices keep rising rapidly so I may get priced out by the time I am ready to get one (milestone birthday, promotion, etc.):
  • 6263 Big Red
  • 1680/8 or 16808 (since the former is so much more $$$)
  • Omega Speedmaster (haven't really narrowed down which one yet)

Wow! Great collection. Looks like you still need a Milgauss, Explorer 2, and a Seadweller :-)

Great collection Daniel.

Looks like you are ready for a couple more "life events" with a couple open slots!

Enjoy the journey!

Ah, gotcha

Great collection regardless of the empty spots. IMO you picked some of the best models from the 4, 5, and 6-digit reference sets. Great diversity in terms of size, metals, and professional vs. dress models. Congrats on the life milestones obtaining these great watches to match them!

One of my favourite collections on this site!(edit: scratch that, this is my favourite collection I've seen here) I agree that the 16610LV would really round it out nicely, but if it's not your style it's not worth it.

I would consider a 16520 Daytona.

Do you have a favourite, or watch you wear the most?

What a nice collection. A SS daytona might be a nice addition.

If you do like the omega speedmaster, I'd go for the classic moonwatch, or a vintage one.

I like this collection and congrats on momentous occasions celebrated with these pieces. Also would like to see a Daytona down the line in this Rolex collection.

As I mentioned above, I actually have a LV but it's not in "my collection". I just have it in the safe to flip down the road, it's not for me. And I also have a 6263 on my wish list...but we'll see if that happens down the road, :)

To answer your question, I obviously wore the 16710 the most due to how long I've had it (wore it every day until the 1016 showed up). And I probably still wear that one the most due to it's versatility...I have 4 different inserts for it and a bunch of different straps/natos so have a lot of different combinations. 2nd would be the 1016...

Yup, I agree on the Daytona! I have a 6263 on my wish list...but that's quite the heavy hitter on the wallet so we'll see...

And you and I are on the same page when it comes to the Speedy. I have also been considering the FOIS due to the "vintage" characteristics but at a much more lower price point...of course the vintage charm isn't there but I'm also a Rolex guy so it's already a stretch that I'd be owning a non-Rolex, :)
