A tale of two blue. Would you have done the same?

Dear Watch Fam,

A short story of a recent switch that took place in my collection. I bought a Boutique 15400or on bracelet with the blue dial 2 years ago. Then at SIHH '17, I was blown away with the new 26331or. I loved the lighter blue dial and the gold subdials along with its new design. The date window was not my favourite but I decided to look past it. After all, no more screw down pushers!

So, I sold the 15400 and bought the 26331 last month. So far, I love the more "sportier" feel of the chrono. Do I miss looking at the 3120 movement? Sometimes. I just felt that one needs to own an 1185 FP at some point. I find that legibility is not great with the chrono and I do sometimes miss the cleaner dial of the 15400. All in all, I'm happy with the switch.

Now I want to know this: Would you have replaced your 15400 with the 26331?

Thanks fam.

You can't go wrong with either brother, so enjoy the chrono it's beautiful! If I'm being completely frank and honest, that blue tapisserie dial, clean, without the sub dials is stunning. I'm biased cause I have a blue 15500st, but the blue with your OR is INCREDIBLE!

Think you made a good call, I preferred the ROC too at 41mm as the dial can get pretty wide otherwise, and the gold subdials work nicely with the case.

I skipped your first step and went right to the 26331or as my first AP.

Both are great and can't lose but he chronologically just pops a bit more. The gold subdials really have an "effect". Love it.

Two fantastic pieces. I'm always partial to RO over ROC or ROO but if you prefer the sense of the ROC then of course you made the right decision.

Like them both, but would have kept the 15400OR blue, but you can't really go wrong with either one. Enjoy the 26331OR!

I’d keep the 15400OR and add a 26331ST blue. I preferred the plain dial of the 400 in the OR version

I would of kept the 15400, the plain dial is stunning and I hate the fact that the Chrono is not an in house movement. Also, clear caseback is a plus with the 15400

I love both but the contrast of the sub dials on the Chrono make the watch for me. I just wish I could pull it off but won't work on my 6.5" wrists

On strap, the 15400or works the best. Classier, dressier look.

On bracelet...I think the chrono is the way to go

Had both, still have the 15400or on strap.

I think you wound up with the right one ....although we are splitting hairs.

You made the right choice Amir. & seeing as to how you didn't have any chronos in your collection before it was the perfect addition. That 1185 is buttery smooth & one of the thinnest and best chrono movements made. The ROCs thinness is just amazing, and guaranteed when the new in-house chrono makes its way from the 11.59 to the ROC, we'll see the thickness increase quite a bit.
Enjoy in good health!

They are both stunners, I personally would go 400R due to easier wearability. As much as I love a see thru case back especially on an RO the ROC caseback with the old school logo and font is so damn cool. That one along with the previous Overseas case back are the coolest ones.

Couldn't have said it any better myself. It's a fantastic movement and will be missed once the transition takes place to the flyback in house movement.

I'm at 6.75". I can barely pull it off. 39mm was just perfect in my opinion...

Both are great looking watch but I preffer 26331.

Looks more sporty and I don’t have any problem with mine about legibility.

Also accuracy of 26331 it’s very good.

IMO you do the right choice!

The chrono variant has always had a bigger "wow" factor for me in person. I think you made a great decision.

It’s just a tad different. 15400 almost looks black in most lightning. Chrono is slightly more “blue”.

Yes it is deff more blue. I feel like the chrono has bit of a metallicness to it too.. or maybe I need glasses
