Do you still own your first Rolex...
I bought this Submariner 16800 on November 11th, 2011. It was my first Rolex purchase, and is still my favorite weekender watch on a leather strap.
Please post your first owned Rolex Watch if you still have it in your collection....!

My first Rolex was a TT DJ which was given to me as a present for graduating college and passing the boards in 1994. It is still part of my rotation....

I still have the GMT Master 16750 that my father gave me in 1983. I was still in high school and my parents were working overseas at the time. At the end of summer, on the trip back to the U.S. for me to start the new semester, we had a layover in Amsterdam and my father and I walked into one of the duty-free shops at the airport.
Well, my father saw the GMT Master and recognized that the price was a really good deal (about $700 at the time) and bought it on the spot. Later he gave it to me knowing that I shared his love of all things mechanical, and that I would always keep and care for the watch. I still have the watch, and always will, but my father passed away in 2011. I miss him. |

I sure do in 1999 bought myself a Submariner. I have always had a watch fetish and for me this was the brass ring. My goal was to hit a certain salary level in my career and when I did - off I went to purchase my watch. I have to mention my new brass ring is a Daytona SS w/white dial - now to set a goal

This one has been with me through numerous life events (getting married, birth of my daughter, career changes, etc...).
I still remember when I bought it like it was yesterday. Believe it or not, in the spring of 1999 Polar Exp IIs were in demand. Largely due to the Asian market and I actually had to put a down payment (10% = $300) on one & wait. It arrived about a month later - a BNIB A series bought direct from an AD. I actually paid the balance in cash and walked out a very happy guy. Hard to believe the price for a 16570 Exp II in 1999 was $3,275 USD!!! Those were the days. Still my favorite "stealth" Rolex of all. |

My TT Sub was my first Rolex, and it'd be the last to go. Heck, I might even clean it one of these days......

Bought my first about 9 months ago (2011 sub no date) and plan to keep it for a while. I have considered parting with it for a Sea Dweller though.

2001 GMT II, 16710.
I polished the strap to get the scratches out, without even thinking about the brushed steel. But a bit of careful work with a Scotchbrite pad has got the nice brushed effect back. If you need any restoration tips, the website minus4plus6.com is brilliant. |
