IWC Accuracy

Just got my IWC Pilot Chronograph 41 less than a week ago from my AD and I absolutely love everything about it! However, the accuracy has dwindled. It started out great at less than 1 second per day. Maybe 5 days later, it’s become about -13 sec/day. Is this normal? I’ve never come across such a drastic change in performance before. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!

Check if it goes back to 1s after you fully wind it manually. If yes, it is very likely an issue with the automatic winding. Maybe too much rotor friction.

IWC Accuracy

If a full winding does not improve the accuracy, then I would try different rest positions overnight, starting with dial up.

Otherwise, I would visit the next IWC boutique and ask their watchmaker to measure the caliber on a timegrapher, to determine rates, amplitudes, and beat errors in horizontal and vertical positions. Get the timegrapher results (small printout).

Good luck!

I had a Pilot Chrono from them as well, and it ran about +4 a day consistently, so I’d say you have an issue. Best visit the AD or call IWC service.

This is interesting. It actually stopped this morning despite wearing it everyday this week. How would an issue like this be fixed?

By sending it in for service?

you have 8 year warranty. I would not worry about it. They back their products.

IWC is in a better position to help you than anyone on the forums.
It's under warranty, so don't have any one else touch it. Just send it in.

I have a Spitfire Chrono and BP Heritage. Both are not that off, but both are not super accurate watches from my experience.

I had to get the BP regulated last year. After a month or so, it settled at +7spd, and I think that's the best I'm going to get out of the BP. The Spitfire is a little better, around +spd.

Overall, I would say that IWC in-house movements are not that accurate. Good to okay, but not great, even with regulation.

But whenever a watch is consistently slow, I get worried. I'd send it in the get it checked.

Yeah, too much rotor friction. I've had two IWC:s with this same problem. Stopped everytime after 4-5 days.

And I have to add that both of those problems occured after the service in my AD. So after that they had to send the watches to IWC to fix the problem. Definitely some weird lubrication problem or something in the IWC rotor. It seems that they have completely different auto-winding rotors or something compared to other brands.
