My path to this new DJ36 (pics)

Morning everyone - I could spend hours writing; however, I will just share a bit of background leading to my most recent acquisition, a 116200. I have had them all (in the stainless sports line); 11610, 116610, 14060, the DJ II, 16710, GMT BLNR and GMT LN, Expy II Polar and Explorer 36. I have had my share of Omegas as well. Nothing really fit quite right, or went perfect with my daily outfits - alternating between suits/dress clothes daily for work to the super casual on weekends. So, after much searching, some flipping, I believe I have found the perfect watch for me. The size is perfection, although it took about a week for my eyes to adjust. My wrist is just 7 inches. For anyone out there struggling with choosing a less-popular model than the beautiful SS sports models, go for it. You will be happy. The legibility, the comfort, the accuracy. I love it. Here are some pictures of my 116200 DJ 36.

yes i thought about that - could be a very cool change to make this even more amazing than it is. I'm assuming my AD could possibly do that in the future..

Damnit. I like that a lot. I'm also not finding the perfect watch (currently have a black-dial Oysterquartz, a 16610, and a white dial, arabic Air-King). I like what I have, but in my mind there's something I'd tweak a bit about each of them to get them perfect. Current fave is the Air-King, to my surprise.

All-in then, I've been contemplating the newer long-hand 39mm Explorer, or what you got here (or similar).

OP - Curious - what didn't do it for you on the 36mm Explorer?

I needed the date - I loved the size and the look of the 36mm explorer - a true classic in its own right, but for 36mm i prefer the date. I think it completes the package for a daily watch IMHO.

I've gone for a DJ36 too. As you point out, it takes a short adjustment period to acclimatise to the 36mm size but once you do, it feels just right. The proportions on the DJ36 are perfect too, arguably better than the sports models.

Ah yes, I hear you on the date. Thanks for the feedback. Nice choice you've made. Well thought out. Really dig it.
