Sub 114060 Vs 124060 Sizing
So, which one is now the smaller Sub?
The 124060 now has a larger 41mm case, larger lug to lug width, wider bracelet, wider ceramic bezel, and apparently a "roomier" feeling dial. Same case thickness. The only thing pointing to a more compact 124060 are the slimmed lugs. Does anyone know the lug to lug distance on the 124060, longer than 114060? Seems to me that the 114060 is now the smaller Sub. |

Here is the thing. I have the 114060. I would be lying to say I would pick mine over the new one, if for not anything else it is the latest and greatest. If I have to be picky, the dial increase is great for the date, but I think leaves the no date look even more bare. But that is being picky. It is not enough of a change for me to trade-in directly, at least now. Will continue to enjoy and see if I change my mind in the future. The good thing is they look pretty similar to the untrained eye, so I can get some sleep now lol.

I like the proportions, but atm it looks like they're just a little too "blown up". The 21 mm bracelet integrates well into the 41mm case, but a 20mm into slimmed 40 would've looked better. That said, the super case is also a looker

Not to mention that the 'old' 3130 movement has been superior in time keeping to any other watch I own or have ever owned (including the 3235 movement in my DSSD). Currently it's 10 seconds fast.....since the end of June!!!!! |

Here's a good comparison, looking at them side by side the difference is very negligible. The 41mm seems like it's a DJ41 sizing, ie smaller than the data says.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k4x2jqNF8s0 I was a critic, but I'm warming up to the new Sub No Date. The winners for me are the Submariner LNs, the two tones, and the yellow gold models. I don't get a regular black bezel blue dial white gold, that should have been steel, and the new LVC makes less sense considering that design was a 50th Anniversary design, now it means nothing to Rolex I suppose. Those two are Rolex Black Bays for me, sorry. |

The lug width will dictate how any watch fits on smaller wrists. 41mm watches usually have 21 mm lugs. Has anyone confirmed the lug size yet?

Wei Koh has a good review, he says the new sub wears smaller although that it has a larger size. I was regretting turning 114060 down earlier in August, but now I feel I made the right choice, I want 124060 bad!

From visual inspection I would say the lug-to-lug is identical. The tapering of the case design and thinning of the lugs help improve its wearability and probably create the sense that it is slightly smaller. As a small-wristed person, I would definitely go for the 124060. Another interesting observation: The mercedes handset and minute hand look a little larger. This also optically creates the feeling that the watch seems a little smaller. Glad this is only a tiny increase and not enormous like the explorer II

My opinion is that the SubC maxi case is BEAUTIFUL but it is not photogenic, all of us who had or have one know that on the wrist it is beautiful and does not look square or have horrible lugs, but in photos it always looked a bit ugly and in an era of social media, Instagram, etc. Rolex has made a watch that as soon as you start seeing photos of it on buyers' wrists it will look BEAUTIFUL

I have a 114060. Love the new Sub. They nailed it. I'm not trading my 114060 in for one though.

Rolex have finally righted a wrong by slimming down those massive lugs.
The profile of the new sub flows into the bracelet as the old 6 digits did. 100x better |

Just noticed they increased the width of the hour hand.
Something i liked on the previous ones is that the hour hand was thinner |

It would be really interesting to know if the dial is in fact larger than its predecessor, or if it’s just an optical illusion ... |

This side by side image said it all. People nagging about the size increase, I said it the first moment I saw the new case design, Rolex decreased the watch size even if on papers it’s one mm larger. Coming from an SD43 experience, I know how those tapered lugs affect the perception, feel and look of the case. From above, the SD43 looks same size as the maxi case sub.
