AD Wire Transfer

Was waiting on the Jubilee Batman at my local AD. It has been about 5 months and got the word this morning that they have one with my name on it. They asked for a wire transfer which I do not have a problem with. Anybody done a wire transfer to an AD?

The AD contacted me last night and said they had a Sub Date available and I responded no thanks that I was still waiting on the Batman. Less than 24 hours later she called and said we have a Batman. Good things come to those who wait!

I suppose every AD is different but I’ve done it no problem. In the past anyway you could get a bit of discount vs using a cc. Maybe those days have returned? I recently passed on a ym II and was quoted a $500 cash discount vs cc, which was also a bit discounted from msrp.

As mentioned you should request a discount for C/C fees. The wire transfer is going to cost you fees at your bank.

When will you receive the watch? If after the pandemic, I wouldn’t pay full amount. Unless they are going to give the combination for their safe.

business is extremely slow for ADs right now so whatever it takes to get that sale going. A wire seems fine right along with free delivery/curbside pick up.
congrats man

I always wire and ask for 2% discount. Most Ads will take that deal as its a wash to them anyways.

Credit card charge them 3%, most of AD will give you 2% discount with cash/check or wire transfer.

I've wire transferred the money for all of my watch purchases. As long as they have the watch in stock and ready for dispatch/pick up, you're good.

My bank previously told me wire transfers are only possible in-person at a branch location and not on weekends. Does this align with others have been told? It didn’t make much sense to me at the time...

Depends on the bank...and your status with the bank (i.e. you have a private banker relationship etc...)

Typically with some brick and mortar banks, you do have to go in person to a branch and in the current climate, you would have to schedule an appointment.

YMMV... OP GLWS and congrats!

Both of my banks will wire with an online form for a FAX + phone validation/verification.

Maybe time to add a bank that will honor your needs if you’ll be doing wires.

I tried to do a wire today for another purchase (a motorcycle). Most of the branches were closed with just one open for miles around. I went there and they wouldn't open the door, I had a to call a number they had posted on the window and make an appointment, even then they will only do transactions through the Drive Thru area...I got an appointment for the morning. Hope that this helps.
