Thoughts on this 5513 please

I spotted this today on well known pre owned site. Described as circa 1969 / 70 5513 no box or papers. Original dial and service replacement hands that have been suitably aged.

Very interested to hear what some of your thoughts, comments or observations might be please?

It’s priced at £7600 which I think is realistic in the current market. Happy to be corrected.

If I was to buy, it would be a keeper for me. Worth a closer look or should I look elsewhere?

Personally, I would not be happy with the condition of the case or the insert, but I guess that's what you get when bottom-fishing on the internet. If you do buy it, you might want to have the hands stabilized, and the crystal replaced with something better.

Could you force yourself to be happy with that watch? I don’t know how you could…or why, for that matter. The insert’s damage is both an eyesore and will likely get worse, and you could easily lose the pearl. The hands don’t match, are degrading, and will absolutely get worse. The lugs are very hard to look at and I’d much rather have the whole case refinished.
All in all, besides saving some money instead of getting a good piece without so many issues, what’s the appeal? And saying you’re going to keep it, we’ve all said that at one point or another about certain watches no longer in our possession. And if/when you DO sell it, it’s going to be very scrutinized and very hard to sell at a profit.

Better examples abound for a bit more money. In the end, you will be in a better place passing this rode hard example.

The fact that it's a meters-first dial would be the very last thing I cared about. Condition, condition, condition, and originality. Nothing else matters.

Thats a bad watch. Over-polished, the lugs are dreadful. Look at those lug holes, one more polish and its done.

Dial, bracelet etc. It needs a whole overhaul.

Avoid that one man
