Second Watch

I recently bought my first Rolex; the SS GMT-IIc. In addition, with the the help of TRF members I have determined that I am not insane for already thinking about my next watch. I would be interested in getting opinions on what would be a good second piece to my current watch collection of one I am currently considering adding a PAM 00171 or another rolex, but no other rollies are jumping out at me. The SS Sub is nice, but too similar looking to the GMT for me. I would like to go for a bit of a different look. Thanks!

I think a nice compliment to the GMT ll c (since its not worn in formal attire in my opinion) is a day date.

then of course there is a daytona!!

I think that you have to ask yourself..

Do I want a diversified collection, or do I just want to have some watches that I like..

Both valid perspectives..

But, it shouldn't matter if one watch looks similar to another, some people have a dozen GMT's, all just slightly different........they're all little displays with a strap to hold them on your wrist.... The question is how do you feel when you change from one to another....

If you want something like a sub but a bit more unique look at the Sea Dweller, a GREAT watch and it doesnt have the cyclops of the sub so its a nice change.

Also a great piece to buy as Rolex is ending production as they brought out a new model (Deep Sea Sea Dweller)

In my opinion, if you want another Rolex, I'd add a Daytona or a DD or DD2. Although the Daytona is another sport (Professional Series) watch, it is far enough different to give you a totally new look, especially with the white dial. The DD or DD2 or even a nice DJ is obviously a totally new and classic look.

The PAMs are nice as well, but you are getting another sport watch.

Not sure you budget, but you may want to consider an A. Lange, VC, IWC or Blancpain as well.

Ok... you already have the GMT IIc... I don't think you would be satisfied with a SS Sub Date. Maybe look for the TT Sub. Or you are ready to make the move to the Daytona.
