PM - too much for me all the time

First time traveling with my PM Daytona, had it on for almost 4 days.

Loved wearing the piece, but after returning home it was nice to put on a stainless piece.

The heft of the PM (both literally in weight and figuratively in value) was just too much to wear ALL the time. Made me realize that I couldn’t only have a PM watch.

I, for one, enjoy feeling the weight of PM- with a full PM bracelet-in a daily-wear.

For me, the “weight” is more of a mental one in that with PM you need a greater degree of wrist (and doorway) awareness to avoid dents/dings/scratches b/c of the soft metal and b/c you need more situational awareness (more so with YG).

Is there much difference in weight between, for example, a PM Daytona on rubber and a 126610?

I would think the Oysterflex bracelet would neutralize any perceived weight problems. For example, I’d imagine a solid gold Sub with solid gold bracelet would be a lot heavier.

Beautiful watch by the way….

On the contrary, for me. Since i got my Day-Date at the end of august, i don't want to take it off my wrist. I've only worn the Sub once, for no more than 1 hour. For me, the heft and presence of a full PM watch, especially YG, is completely addictive.

I personally find wearing a Daytona like yours even easier, since is WG and on OF, but to each his own. Love your meteorite dial!

I can see that OP. For me SS is the perfect all round material for an everyday watch.

I agree. I love my PM watches but SS is my choice for a daily.

Full YG and RG don't suit me at all. I could probably live with WG. Physical weight doesn't bother me but I get what you say about visual weight. Entirely a personal thing.

To each their own, for me it is the opposite. I almost never wear SS anymore

Opposite for me once I went PM it's hard to think about wearing SS again and with yours being on OF it should be very manageable

I have come full circle and went from SS to TT to PM to almost an entire collection of PM watches. I have since circled back around to mostly SS and Titanium watches. I still own a PM watch but it really get no wrist time. It only took 30 years to make this circle.

I can clearly feel the weight-different between a SS Sub and a PM Daytona when I have them in-hand.

But on wrist ... I can't.

My WG Daytona on Oysterflex weighs significantly more than my stainless Sub.

My current wrist time rotation
WG Sub (70%), SS Sub(25%) and RG GMT(5%)
The weight, while a factor when in hand, is not part of the decision.
Stealth is a main consideration as the RG screams attention; the WG is subdued and often mistaken if unknowing.
My recent example is that I was visiting my small hometown in the Finger Lakes of New York(population 12,000)last month wearing my RG. Twice, once from the farmer I was buying sweet corn from and then again while eating breakfast at a diner, they ooh and aadd about my Rootbeer.
I like the compliment in the context, but I’m not looking to advertise.
Make sense?

Agree with above that the lack of stealth with that watch is probably the driving factor. The meteorite and diamond really make that a beautiful piece, but it sticks out.

Getting another stainless piece after a year of just having a PM Rolex wasn't as refreshing as I thought it would be, but still a nice alternative. It's made the steel feel not quite as special, but I definitely wouldn't mind a steel-only collection.

The weight isn't a big deal to me at all. In fact, I get used to it pretty quickly to the point I don't usually notice it.

What a watch feels like on the wrist varies from person to person. I’m one who enjoys the heft of PM and wear this one for weeks at a time. My SS and PM Daytona on OF feel like toys when I rotate them after wearing the WG sub.

I agree - can't wear my D-D on a full time basis. Terrific watch when worn at the right times, but not all the time.

The weight is definitely very noticeable, but that's not my main reason for not wearing it 24/7. Kinda like having some variety, and there are many ocasions where under the radar is best...

I would guess a Daytona oysterflex and Sub weigh about the same. Somewhere around 150-160 grams. Just a guess though.

I agree you need to try one on a full bracelet. The overall balance may be better.

WG Sub weighs significantly more than WG OF Daytona, which weights significantly more than a Stainless Sub. I would say that my WG OF Daytona weights about 1.5x more then my Stainless Sub, and my WG Sub weight about 1.5x more than my WG OF Daytona. Not very scientific, but the difference is absolutely noticeable.

Correct, The gold watches on OF definitely feel off balance compared to an all gold watch, both are equally comfortable.

Ever since I got my 116619LB amongst other gold watches and a lot of steel watches I’ll always put it back on my wrist - probably more often than I should… Maybe it’s one of the best Rolex watches ever made?!

Sounds like this isn't a problem as you have multiple watches to wear. The beauty of being a watch collector is we get to rotate as often as we want.
