Is the DJ36 the next in demand model?

.....seems like it to me.

Went into 3 ADs today and they only had a couple of silver dials and nobody had a jubilee bracelet. Also been trolling sales pages for a few weeks and nothing apart from the occasional 126200 on oyster. Ended up ordering a blue dial 126234 so the wait begins. Anyone else notice this model drying up?

Well, I guess it depends on how long it takes for you to get yours. If it is just a few weeks, then no. I do hear the blue dial on the DJ41 is harder to get

Definitely- they made it to the cases in June of last year, but dried up pretty quickly after that. Not too many making it to the major gray dealers, either. I confirmed today they can still be ordered, however. Upside to that is you get one fresh from the coffin, downside is that it can be difficult finding one to try on prior to purchase.

It’s a fantastic piece in any configuration- you won’t find a more comfortable Rolex, IMHO.

DJ is probably the brand's best-seller. So it's a hot model that far outsells Hulks, 'tonas, etc.

I believe there are more production runs of the DJ as well.

The 36mm will make a huge comeback. It is so classic. Should I post another pic of my blue one? Or have we had enough?

I pretty much haven't worn anything since getting it.

I bought mine brand new with box and papers for $6,299 on 12/31/2019 just before the price increase.

Current Retail Price: $7,050.

The new case shape is near perfect and while I liked the hidden clasp, having the easy link is sure convenient. A lot to like with the DJ 36.

I hope the DJ 36 is the next big seller. I just got one last week as my first Rolex. The AD had what I wanted in stock, so there was no waiting (surprisingly). There were at least a few DJ 36s in stock, and I believe the AD had a blue DJ 41 with smooth bezel (surprisingly).

On my 6.5-inch wrist the DJ 36 looks great. While I didn't try on a DJ 41, I feel like it would have looked like a dinner plate on my wrist compared to the DJ 36. The DJ 36 is so classy.

I agree! Or at least I hope it does. Love the 36mm size, very classic.

I have a large wrist, just got an OP39 and had to have two links added as reference. And even I considered a 36mm because I like the size a lot. I tried it and the DJ41 on and would go 36mm for a Datejust. But I was able to get my hands on a white OP39 and have to admit size wise it’s the perfect smaller watch for someone with a wrist my size. But if I was skinnier it’d be 36mm all the way, haha.

I’m hoping it’s only a few weeks but who knows in the current climate. AD told me that Rolex have increased production so I have my fingers crossed!!

It took about 6-8 months for me to get a call from one of the ADs in my area for a new DJ36.

Damn that’s way too long!! AD seemed pretty confident he could get me one in a “reasonable” amount of time.

I really hope not, i plan on adding at least two more to my collection.

When I was searching for my black smooth oyster i had my name at 3 Aus ADs and all three called me within 3 months, first one was within 1 month so hope it stays that way. Have a feeling the blue fluted with jub is harder...

They are becoming harder to get for sure, last year or so I bought two, one SS and one TT both were 'in the back'

The sales assistant at the time said demand we rising and said in the future would be harder to get.

I now believe that trying to find them in a display case (in the more popular configurations) is a challenge.

I see they’re increasingly harder to get.
Thankfully picked mine up right at the beginning of the year. Black with fluted and jubilee combination. TT variants should be easier to get though.

Ha!

Just out of curiosity, did you consider the fluted bezel on oyster, or were you set on the smooth bezel? I found that I prefer how the fluted on oyster looks in photos, but in real life prefer the smooth bezel.

I love the fluted/jubilee combo but always felt underdressed when I tried it on in the store; like it goes with a suit and tailored shirt. It is akin to wearing shiny patent leather shoes and a French cuffed shirt and bowtie with a pair of blue jeans. The smooth/oyster combo pairs much better with everyday casual clothing.

The DJ36 is a Rolex signature model. Been around for years. My AD told me that yes, DJ36 SS models sell as soon as one comes in. Especially the white dial. I purchased my DJ36 white dial, Roman numerals, Oyster, smooth bezel around 1998. It’s my go to watch. It gets more wrist time than my SS Sub, and 39mm White dial OP. Great, comfortable Rolex.

For the fluted bezel, jubilee bracelet, and blue dial I was told 6-9 months at most ADs in the DC area. Also spoke with one of the trusted sellers on the forum. They didn’t have any and had a queue of 6 waiting for the model.

Local dealers said the same here, but a little more for the 41. I noticed only a small amount of 36 available about a month ago. Think many of the Rolex in general are in demand and the supply remains low. I tried to make the 36 work as I am considering adding a two-toned to my collection.

In January 2015 I bought my first Rolex, a Milgauss 116400 GV Black, new at the AD. I'm a woman and quickly decided that it was too heavy for me. It sat in the safe for 5 years while I wore my Cartier Tank.

I stopped in at the AD where I had purchased it and they asked if I wanted to do a trade in. Jumped at the offer and picked out a DJ 36 Silver dial. I have worn it just about daily and now want a black dial as well. So comfortable on jubilee band, I went with the smooth bezel and feel it can be dressed up or down. The perfect watch!

Almost exactly a year ago I was shopping around for a 41 and I saw tons of 36 in AD cases. Now plenty of TT but stainless models are becoming rarer every week.

My AD has had a blue dial DJ41 (fluted, jubilee) in their case for at least 3 weeks now.
