New black sub link squeaking

A few days after purchase and I’m noticing a noisy squeak from the bracelet. Surely that’s not right?

I think a wee visit to the AD might be in order.

My lv does it sky D does it. If it’s just a noise from bracelet movement I wouldn’t worry about it. Visually inspect nothing is loose and enjoy it. It took me a while to get used to squeaks because I’m pretty OCD but this is typical of bracelets to do so. Or let’s put it this way every sub I have had makes a noise

I bought the Sub ND last month and I have noticed the same squeak noise I think they come from the end links at the lugs I also find the gliding clasp a bit harder than my hulk which is butter smooth

It’s completely normal. Wash it with dish soap and it will go away within a day or so. I wash every brand new watch with dawn and they stop squeaking.

Normal for a new watch. Will stop in a few weeks of wear. Enjoy!

Wear it in the shower and soap it up. It will be fine. No need for a visit to the AD.

Warm water and some fairy liquid.
Sorted and great for regular washes too.

My EXP II has done it for a year, washing with dish soap has made no difference. Nonetheless it is perfectly normal.

Note: This watch is not a daily driver.

Fascinating. I have read everyone describe this sound but my wife's new OP34 did not make this sound when it was brand new out of the stickers. They must not all do this. What kind of squeak are we talking about and how loud is it?

Best sound ever… normal for a fresh bracelet.

It’ll go away on its own (eventually), or you can simply wash the watch with soap and water and that usually takes care of it.

I never had a new Rolex not do this, did you get yours from an AD or grey (advertised as unworn)… which maybe gray BS?

Just another post to say I experienced this on both my sub and Tudor GMT - went away after a couple weeks wear and wash with a bit of soap.

Enjoy the new watch!

My new Bluesy Sub did it for maybe the first 10 days of wearing (spread out over a month or so) but my new Jubilee DJ41 never did it. I figured the links fit tighter on an Oyster than a Jubilee, but it could just be a coincidence.

Oh no, it was straight out of the case at our AD. Brand new 34mm OP with the blue dial and oyster bracelet. They had literally just received it a couple of days prior, so it still had some of the stickers on it while she tried it on. After we left the AD I emailed my SA back that night and said my wife loved it and I wanted to surprise her with it for Mother's Day. I put a deposit on it right away Monday morning and then we picked it up that Friday afternoon. I told her I had to stop by the AD for some random reason and to meet me there so we could then do a date night.

Good thinking, though. I'll have to ask her if she noticed any squeaking. To be honest, since I am not the one wearing it all day, I probably shouldn't be responding! I'll clean it tonight and see if I hear anything.

Knowing my wife if she heard a squeak she’d never say a thing hehe.

Guys on the other hand. lol

Squeak means friction and friction means wear it'll stop eventually unless lubed by soap etc a few washes like should be done anyway will sort it.

Enjoy your squeak while it lasts. Once it's gone you will never hear it again.

It's a common thing with brand new Oyster bracelets.
It will go away of it's own accord with enough wear.
A quick wash and rinse under the tap with some warm water and dish soap will shut it up in the short term.
When the squeak returns, wash and rinse as required

New black sub link squeaking

I’d take it back to the AD.

It seems that more recently there was a batch of watches that contained sub-standard 904L steel on certain brushed Sub bracelets and this is a bi-product of that.
