For the season of giving, a presentation Comex
Good morning all,
This 16800 was one of a few awarded on 30th November 1984 to a number of Comex personnel who were celebrating ten years of employment with the company. Note the order of the lines SUBMARINER / 1000ft = 300m. It is not always so ;-) I purchased it from the original owner in Scotland, with all its original accessories including the presentation card. On the rear, correctly, is the Comex number, his name and the date of the presentation. Looking at the aged lume of the bezel pip and the dial, it may be reasonable to think that the hands have been changed at some point, though matching ones could easily enough be sourced if one wished. As with many of his colleagues, it was clear that diving and its professional community had been a huge part of this gentleman's life. It was through him that I learned of the Byford Dolphin incident, a reminder of the hazards these men faced, and something which had clearly affected him greatly. Like so many, he proved to be an unassuming, modest gentleman, in my experience faultless to his word. I have never yet met a former RN or Comex diver who was anything else. With kind regards, Haywood Milton, UK |

Fantastic post mate and the provenance that came with it.
Yes, it's not all glory & fame for these commercial divers - the nice gent whom I bought from had his career cut short when one of his eardrums burst due to pressure equalisation that went bad due to faulty comm. :-( ♛lunetteverde@Instagram♛ |

Another stunner! I like the fact that you're meeting the people who owned them, as the provenance is an important aspect for collecting. Keep them coming.
