5800 scratch-
Hi guys and girls- I have a small but noticeable scratch on crown side of 5800 brushed part of bezel- exactly perpendicular to the brushed surface lines. Would you risk trying a Bergeron fiberglass pen or other ideas I’ve heard discussed here or just not worry- hate to do any damage but would love advice from all of you as I am quite the novice and know very little :-(. Thx in advance for any help

Congrats on owning a 5800, superb choice. I have that same scratch in the same place on my 5711 for over 5 years and have learned to live with it. I had my 5711 serviced at Henri Stern and refused to have it polished because the cure is often worse than the disease. If you wear your 5800 there will be more scratches.
Can't help you with the pen, sorry. |

I would certainly not try to touch up a Nautilus bezel with a fiberglass pen. How would you achieve a homogenous brush stroke all around the bezel with a pen? In all likelihood the bezel will look a lot worse afterwards. I think the way to do this is to remove the crystal and move the bezel flat against the abrasive.
Not sure if I would have it done at all though. Once I had one link of a Nautilus bracelet touched up by a Patek Service Center and it bothered me more than the scratches before as the brush stroke came out slightly different from the other links. Ordered a new link in Geneva then. Problem solved. |
