Presidents Bracelet

Just started looking "seriously" last week and looked at 3 different watches, but all with the yellow gold President bracelet.
My question is how perfect does the polished center come from Rolex. The 3 that I looked at were "New" and it was an AD. All 3 were far from what I would consider a perfectly polished "mirror" finish.
Is this typical or should they be "mint"?

Welcome to TRF!

ALL Rolex watches that are BNIB (Brand New In Box) and feature polished surfaces would have PERFECT polished surfaces everywhere there is supposed to be a polished surface.

However, if you go to an AD and try on a Rolex, let's say a DD, then you have to be aware of the fact and or possibility that the sales' assistants have had that watch in and out of the window display many times, and that many other customers have tried it out on their wrists.

Being 18 kt. gold which is much softer than stainless steel, the polished surfaces quickly get scratches or get a matte finish due to smudge from hands touching them, etc. etc.

But here you see a pic of my favourite model DD (Ref. 118238) which looks pretty PERFECT to me as what polishing is concerned:

, I'd say!

Yes, that one looks "mint". The ones I looked at literally looked used...I can't imagine they could have took that much abuse from just trying them on.
How durable is the gold? Will long sleave shirts, wiping of finger prints, etc...cause the mirror finish to dull or does it take more then that?

Not dull but you WILL get scratches, specially on the center links. My advice: just enjoy the watch. I was suffering too much because of that; but one day I decided to LIVE and enjoy.

I agree with Gerardo. There will be a lot of scratches. They bothered me at first but you must ignore it and enjoy wearing a great looking watch.
