PAM Suggestion & Questions on 233 Dome, WR & Price
Hey gents, helping a friend source the best deal on a PAM. Would be his first, and his only stipulations are:
1950 Case GMT Hand No Blue on the Dial (like you find on the second hand with some models) He was originally wanting a 320, but I told him that I think the 233 would be the way to go instead. I’m going to assume most of you would agree with me on that suggestion? I have a couple quick questions though, if you don’t mind. -Was the dome discontinued on this model or not? I seem to be getting conflicting information upon running a search. If so, did it start with the S or T series? A definite confirmation of this from a fellow member would be greatly appreciated! -The WR on this model is only 100M? Some time ago, I had a 312 and am sure it had 300M WR. Being that these are both 1950s case, why exactly is there a decreased WR? Not that it really matters from an actual diving standpoint, I’m just curious as to why it’s lower. -As stated, it was definitely years back that I purchased my 312. What kind of discount would be expected if he decided to just go the AD route? If it’s still significant, might just suggest this to him. Thanks in advance! |

233 would be an awesome choice. As Edward said above, the 233 definitely has the domed crystal (contrary to an earlier and very embarrassing post by me).
WR on this piece is 100m. This huge fuss over WR of late is doing my head in! How many people actually dive that deep?

have your friend get the 233...many years ago when the 320 was released I wanted it. Than many wise risti convinced me that I should save up for a 233. 233 is in a different league...as you mentioned the 233 is one of the only 44mm with a dome sapphire, sits lower than the 1950 autos since it has no rotor, has a date with manual wind, can hide the GMT hand for a simpler layout. I like the dot dial implementation for simplest. Power reserve indicator and 8 days....

I owned a 233for a couple of years. It’s a great piece and is a very comfortable watch. It’s pretty thick, but wears “flat” due to the manual wind. I ended up flipping it because I was worried about the reliability of the movement.
