Should I get rid of my GMT Master II? (pepsi)

I am the original owner of a 2006 GMT Master II (purchased in 2007).

Everything is in my possession (papers, box, etc). With the value of these watches so high, I'm considering selling it and getting something else (Really into the BLNR right now).

I'm torn though - part of me wants to keep the watch but I also want something "newer" or.. different.

Just curious what other people would do, thanks!

It's just a watch. If you need to flip to comfortably afford something else, why not? You've enjoyed it for 10 years. Time to move on and let someone else enjoy it.

.......And be prepared for the new "5 digit fan club" to chime in a bunch on this one. ;-)

Cannot help with the decision but this is a false equivalency.

Your current watch may be worth more than you paid but a replacement will cost even more in today's dollars.

In the end you will have spent new money to end up with just one watch.

As far as your decision, not sure why you would part with a classic watch only to replace it with a newer version of the same thing?

No. Once the "newness" wears off, you'll speedily come to regret your decision.

Pretty much. As much as I love the BLNR (my favorite modern 6 digit stainless), I wouldn't replace a 16710 that you've had since new.

I guess I'll send it out for service. I haven't worn it in months, the rotor is noisy and I'm afraid I'll damage the movement if I continue to wear it.

I'm somewhat worried about having it serviced though..

Good plan. It'll come back as good as new. I think you definitely have a "keeper".

I'm new here - not sure who Vanessa is?

I was just about to start searching to see where I can send my watch for a service.

I'm close to NYC and do have a few friends who own shops on 47th - but I'm even hesitant to leave the watch there. Call me paranoid I guess :(

Best thing you could do is send it on a holiday, like a trial separation. I know someone who would look after it for you too... hehe

Don't do it. I traded my first GMT once regretted it until I got another one. Everyone is different but in my opinion there should be one of those in every collection.

Plot twist: What watch would you get rid of a pepsi for?

I also have someone who will trade my pepsi for a BLNR with VERY little out of pocket on my end..

This was also my first rolex - it's sentimental I suppose?

I wouldn't sell that watch. You'll regret it later down the line.

Save up for the next one.
