Rolex that best fits in with vintage and modern watches

The 16600 SD is currently the best watch on earth. The case thickness and dimensions fit in perfect with what people are wearing today, and still it's not over the top. The new master coaxial omega 300 for example is a little bigger (case thickness and dial) than the SD and still it gets destroyed by the SD water resistance. The new ceramic subs are cool but not nearly as elegant and refined as the older models. The old subs used to be the best but they're just too small thickness wise to blend in with the modern watches, whereas the sd is a little thicker so it's the best selection. The modern SDs are just too bulky and top heavy, and only a select group of folks are into that kind of heft. The 16600 SD fits in with the vintage watches and with the modern with an insane depth rating and helium escape valve so it's the greatest.

It's a great watch. I am sure some will agree with you and others wont. Appreciate your thoughts.

16600 is a great watch, but there are plenty of modern watches that are Sub thickness or less, especially at the higher end. I'd shave another millimeter or two off the Sub if I could. It's one of the reasons I prefer the thinner GMT/Exp II (5 digit,) and I'd have no interest in going thicker.

I was trying on some watches at an Omega AD the other day, and the thickness was the most disappointing part.

I'm not sure about that but I do feel it is much nicer than the now discontinued SD4K that everyone seems to be wetting their pants about.

I think the 16600 is tied for best watch on earth with the 116400.

Welcome to TRF!

Thank Heavens you didnt post this thread on the 0mega forum ! No doubt ref 0ne-double Six-double Zero is a great watch Sir but there are other title contenders
I have the one you mentioned, SM 300 M CoAx Cal 8400 but I know I'm going to love the new Seamaster 300 Cal 8806 ,Omega's 60th Anniversary 1957 Trilogy. Based on the feedback from the GM Omega Msia who attended Baselworld 2017 , he said it really is a visually stunning vintage divers reissue & measures 39 x14.1 mm

Dial too small for my liking plus gloss dial on a SD is wrong.

There are rolexes I actually like more than the SD but I can't deny its versatility. Great talking with you folks definitely.
