Nomination, please read

Dear friends,

Are you willing to participate in the nomination of the ultimate Rolex? The plan is as follows: you all nominate your personal 3 favourite models. After about a week I’ll make a list of 3 most nominated models (your models may or may not be included). Out of this list I’ll make a poll and that will run for a couple of days as well. The result of this poll will become the TRF Rolex of All Times! Understandably, 3 participants won’t make this work.

Frans.

Are we talking just from a personal choice standpoint (ie our favs)? or are you talking about the ultimate as in achievements or based on what we beleive are the ultimate Rolexes in the world?

My top 3 favs are

1. SD.
2. WG Daytona on bracelet
3. Explorer1

Top 3 acheivers, which I beleive ARE the ultimate Rolexes since they are proven in the field

1. GMT Master 1/2 - Pan Am proven
2. Sub/SD (since the SD is a Sub originally) Comex proven
3. Explorer 1 Hilary and Norgay proven!!

Now finally the ultimate rolexes based on the real world or non-wis's
(If one goes to Asia, where Rolex sells over 60% of its watches I am told, ask a few ADs and this is what you will see ppl asking for most)

1. Gold DDs
2. TT DJs Mens and Womens
3. Air Kings

Personal 3 favourites, eh? My three favorites that I do own, will own, or just wish I could own?

Ok, all three then:

do own:
114270 Explorer
16750 GMT Master
16610 Subdate

will own:
Plat day date on Prez bracelet with glacier blue dial and Roman numerals.
SS/Plat Yachtmaster
5513

wish I could own:
Military 5513
Early no-crown guard, big crown sub
Early COMEX SD

Those last three are just pure fantasy. I doubt I'll ever buy one, even if I could ever afford it; too rare to wear and enjoy, so no point in owning in my opinion. Well... except the mil sub, if I had one of those I'd wear it every day.

I've said it before and I say it again and again and again....

The ultimate Rolex is the...

16610 SS Sub-date....the absolute icon in the entire Rolex line-up.

I've owned 3 in the past, so my list is...

- SS Sub-date.

- TT Daytona

- TT YM

JJ

I think that's a MOP dial JJ, but is beautiful. Blue rhodium is like the one Brad Spitt wore in Ocean's Twelve
