PM Sports Models below MSRP

With the new state of affairs.

There are models of PM pieces (as well as most day dates) that are trading below retail

Namely the rose Gold GMT and white gold Daytona (baby leman) ( attached picture), yellow and white gold Subs.

I wonder if ADs will start viewing these as bundle pieces before a more favourably pieces

Or we will start seeing more go out the side door to grey dealers directly.

In region, the game is either implied sales bundling; although with lower premiums on hot allocation pieces, this doesn’t really make sense anymore

Or there are also ADs that will sell pieces at grey market prices through the back door. I wonder if these ADs will eventually start offering discounts matching prices on the market

What do you guys think?

They traded for a premium for a very short period of time.

Personally I like the aesthetic of some PM but at PM prices there are many other watches I’d rather own.

I get offered PM pieces every week by one of the ADs I work with. They haven't budged off full retail + tax.

My understanding is the holidays are around the corner and they are hoping they will hold and eventually move inventory before the end of the year.

On the grey front my grey go to has informed me bundling of desirable pieces continues to occur out the "back door" with with many ADs.

How do you mean ‘work with ‘ ? Do you work in an AD ?

There are some people that probably want the PM and not the hype pieces. I’d rather go through an AD instead of Grey. People also have a preference on that as well. The same person may want to only deal in the grey market instead of an AD. Everyone has their own preference.

I suppose eventually we will see most PM pieces available at 10-15% discount from ADs.

I have heard from a friend that his AD 'encouraged' him to buy slow moving PM pieces in order to obtain his desired SS references quicker.

Based on my observations and speculation I believe we will see the market hold or adjust slightly one way or another through the holidays. Once on the other side of the new year we could see something of a bounce depending on the economy both ways.

Oy, this sounds just like Wall Street bs.

"The market was soft in the morning as investors focused on the latest unemployment numbers but then picked up mid afternoon as the lack of news about the middle east war expanding emboldened traders heading into the weekend."

PM does not = Platinum

Platinum is a silvery metallic chemical element, a member of the six transition elements in Group VIII of the periodic table known collectively as the platinum metals (ruthenium, rhodium, palladium, osmium, iridium, and platinum). Platinum has the symbol Pt, its atomic number is 78, and its atomic weight is 195.09. The name is derived from the Spanish platina, meaning "silver."

I think PM discounts on new models are a thing of the past. Just IMHO.

So, you're saying the Baby LeMans is trading below 33.5? Can you show me where that' happening?

Not sure where you are pulling 33.5 from.

MSRP differs per region but this is the from the display shelf of a well known 2nd hand dealer here.

You might be thinking the oyster flex version

But here is it is:

At least in the US, ADs are not allowed to discount. If they do, they will face loss of status. PMs are still delivered slowly and will slow further if demand at retail slackens. Buying a full precious metal watch was always a big steppingstone to getting a desired SS sports model.

Discounts were always the norm with PM models before all this recent hype madness.

It would not surprise me if ADs start discounting PM pieces at some point. I was offered a 126509 with the black dial yesterday at an AD. She knew that was not the model that I asked for so she understood completely when I declined. My point being is that if a nobody like me is getting a call on a PM piece that they must not be flying off the shelves lol.

I believe the oysterflex versions are still above retail.

Ghost and yellow golds still significantly above.

This has always been the case with the 1165XX models.

The ceramic bezels adds a very sporty touch.

If they would release the ceramic bezel on the bracelet PM models, I think it will be a game changer

I was referring to the oyster flex version.

I wasn't aware the full gold version was going by that name.
