My Grail of Grails
I've owned it a while now, and am absolutely certain this grail will remain my favourite watch of all time.
Pictures do not do the Openworks justice, and I consider the steel version to be perfection. It's also the watch that raised AP above all other brands for me personally. |

Absolutely spectacular; a worthy grail indeed. What was the acquisition journey like?

Amazing watch but special watches like that, IMO, should be in precious metal. Why not trade it for a PM version?

That is one insanely beautiful watch in a perfect size.
How long are the current waiting lists in years? If he thinks the steel version is "perfection" then, thinking about it logically, why would he trade it for a PM version he feels is less perfect? Think before posting. :) |

This is beautiful and the same one I have.
I’m going to ask a question and this is more to stimulate debate rather than stir things up. Steel or Ceramic openworked?? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

There is much less contrast to the gold parts of the movement. This model works far better in steel in my view. |

For the most iconic (to me) Royal Oak, it could only be steel.
The contrast of steel to movement, and the gold parts is simply stunning. I have been known to be transfixed by it in conference call, and only realising when I heard a question directed at me |

You had the choice of the ceramic openwork and you picked the steel? Were these all at retail prices? You'd be out of your mind then.

OP's choice was at market price. But IMO, the steel/dark grey/gold contrast makes the 15407ST the most stunning of the 41mm openworked (picture in OPs first post is exhibit #1).

I still would have gone with the ceramic then I'm patiently waiting for my 15407st from the boutique. I refuse to pay the second hand price for these watches unless it's truly impossible to get it from the boutique. |
