78360 Clasp date confirmation required
I require a bit of help with the date on this clasp it shows 4 /70 that I understood to be April 1970, there is also the letter H stamped on it...... when I look on the internet the clasp code H is for 1983???
could it be, I could be wrong? many thanks "H"

hi Lee, it came with my 68 5513, I dont know any more than this, Ive replaced it with a 93150 bracelet but just wanted to clarify what it was as it seems odd with the 70/4 on one part of the clasp and H on the other. its possible a later repair? with an 83 part? cheers for the input.

I am guessing its a 7836 bracelet with a 78360 clasp part used to repair the bracelet.

And unless I’m mistaken 4 70 is 4th Quarter 70. Date stamps on blades didn’t start being month specific for quite some time later, many years after the date stamps moved to the other clasp blade (the blade that began including the model designation) - others may have views on when that began.

Take a picture that shows both blades together. May show a difference in condition.
Already discussed, you have mismatched blades.. |

this I will do tomorrow in daylight, I have looked at it and nothing seem to have been altered, if it is mis matched then it was by professional hand, I will post pics and maybe this will shed some more light on what's happened, many thanks for the input one and all,

It looks like it is a folded bracelet but 78360 has solid link instead. I guess it is a 7836 bracelet with a younger clasp installed.

The bracelet, as others mentioned, has been pieced together and repaired in the past. It appears to be an Oyster 7836 that was repaired with Oyster 78360 parts. Nothing more, nothing less. This is quite common with vintage bracelets when they were repaired by watchmakers. Back in the day, owners wanted their bracelets functional when repaired. Original parts was never a concern with most owners- function was the priority.

Many thanks, I've taken it off my 1968 5513 and replaced it with a 93150 Bracelet that was serviced by Michael Young, I am looking to move this bracelet on and just wanted to know what it was that I had prior to selling it. many thanks one and all.
