Favorite Rolex Advertisment...

This is probably my favorite Rolex Ad. It dates from around 1991. Just makes me want to go diving and underwater exploring with a Sea-Dweller or Submariner!

There was a serie of ads in National Geographic and Photography Magazine when I was a kid that I remember well. "You can tell by the men who wear them" campaign. Here's an example:

My 3 favs

First the Rolex Explorer, second the Sub and third the GMT (it recalls when flying was a great experience, years before 9/11 and no low cost)

I like this one. I am a fan of both Jaws and Subs. A SS Sub for $490. Those were the days.

As this may be the first Rolex ad to mention "Submariner" and "the new craze of 'skin-diving'", this may be of interest.

Yeah love that ad. Also love these 2 that we see appear each December and psyches me up for another Sydney Hobart!. Also have to include the 3rd Ad of us racing in SF as this is the race where we won the Rolex Big Boat and also the US National Championships. 1st prize...1 Sub and 1 YM. Awesome to have your memorable moment used for a Rolex Ad!!!

Most vintage Rolex ads are good stuff!

Then again, the rest of the industry wasn't exactly producing masterpieces:

And the art is not completely lost, me thinks:

This is my oldest, from the Illustrated London News, June 6, 1953. The paper, like older Rolex watch dials, has developed a nice patina over the last 58 years.
