Thoughts on the 126613LB

Hey all.

Potentially have a 2021 two tone Sub becoming available in the next few weeks and I can’t make my mind up if I love it or not. I’m indecisive at the best of times

I look at pics of it and think it’s absolutely stunning and then look at a black Sub and think it doesn’t get much better. Help!

Also, doesn’t seem to get a great deal of love IMO.

Any honest or helpful opinions would be greatly appreciated.

Doesn’t get a lot of love? The Bluesy is one of the most sought after and talked about pieces.

Same watch, two different vibes. If you had only one watch, I’d go with the classic black. If you had a few, the Bluesy makes a great addition that looks as nice under a suit sleeve as it does with swim shorts.

What's the meaning of the phrase 'Less is more'?. The notion that simplicity and clarity lead to good design. Black Sub (of course ND) is the DNA of the oyster perpetual design. Everything flows from this basic design.

It gets plenty of love from watch community. If that’s your criteria, go for it. Good luck on your decision.

The sub for me always comes in SS and in black. Sorry, the others all simply like commemorative coins, interesting variations or homages to the real deal. Same for the speedy pro, there is the standard moon watch, and then all the LE's sapphire versions, etc.. They are nice, but not the speedy.

Some say this watch is "too beautiful" to be a daily watch...

I think I would tend to disagree although I admire this model, I have never owned it.

Bluesy was the nomenclature ordained by JJ Irani...LOL

I got an LB because I thought it was stunning and everyone else preferred blue as well. Two years later I hated it and sold it. The blue dial is fine but that blue colour bezel is no good.

Bluesy is gorgeous timepiece for sure but not everybody love it.

If you love it, go for it but if you purchase because of the hype, don't do it.

All Rolex are beautiful timepieces, go for the one that really sings to you.

Wow! Didn't know it was JJ Irani who named it. That is cool. He is likely not remembered by much of today's TRF.

I was always on the fence with the bluesy. I teetered back and forth between the TT and YG blue dial on which I would add. I have found as I have gotten older, the YG is a bit much for me but the TT gives me flexibility. Then the new version came out and sealed it for me. It is just perfect for me now.

Thanks all.

Some great replies. I defo don’t buy for hype otherwise I wouldn’t wear an Explorer

Little things maybe put me off like the bracelet being a scratch magnet. I’m not one for battle scars. I must admit I like my watches to look pristine. Personal choice.

I love the Bluesy. Always interesting to get varied views from experts

Thanks again.

What AD is sourcing for you? Do you mind sharing? Interesting they can give you a timeline as to when it will be coming in. I am on a waitlist for the new Bluesey and so far have not heard anything from them even after doing a profile bio as requested.

Hi Ricky, you really need to see one in the flesh. I was on the fence before seeing it, but trying it on at the AD made a huge difference compared to pictures. The dial is incredible and the way blue and gold mix together is pure magic.

Thanks mate. I think that's what I really need and want to do. As soon as it lands I'm down there like a shot

Go for it!

Growing up, I always loved watches but wasn’t a fan of the classic DJ (fluted/Jubilee). To me, that was a Rolex, and I literally knew nothing about the Submariner line. In the 1990s, 2 different friends had the 16613 blue TT and WOW! It was the watch thad made me fall in love with Rolex.

My husband has the TT black 16613, and the gold center links do scratch. The level of detail and heft are impressive.

I haven’t seen a 6 digit “Bluesy” up close yet, and I know over the years TRFers have been all over the place liking or disliking the color of the blue ceramic bezel and/or dial. Obviously that’s a personal preference issue that only you can answer.

Many people here say that people don’t notice their watches; I disagree, but not everyone comments on watches. The blue TT is gorgeous, and will get noticed.

If you want a beautiful watch that will make you smile every time you look at it (which I think is pretty much what every WIS wants), do it! If you want a watch that flies under the radar, this isn’t it. It’s a watch that will be noticed and admired by both men and women.

Don't worry about the scratches on the polished links, they can be avoided. Seeing that you have other watches to wear, I am guessing that you're not going to be using the Bluesy as a daily wear. It's rather easy to avoid scratches on the PCL's... just be "arm aware" meaning know where you put your arm at all times, don't rub the bracelet against your clothes, etc... Keep the watch clean, but don't make the mistake I made with my Bluesy trying to obsessively rub fingerprints off it with a soft cloth. Those cloths are not good at absorbing finger oils, just don't touch the watch and wait until you get home and use soap and water and an absorbent soft microfiber towel (used in car detailing and such) along with a hair dryer to clean the watch. Don't rub with the towel, just carefully wrap it around the watch it after you gave it a bath with soap and water and using your fingers only, let it absorb the water and dab it dry and then get the rest of the water out of the nooks and crannies with the hair dryer. I know, it seems excessive, but it's the best way to keep the scratches away. After my Bluesy I bought a Rootbeer, and it virtually has no scratches on it using my methods described above.

Yeah, it takes a bit of work, and many people here find it silly to try to keep a watch pristine, but, it's my watch, that's how I treat it.

Good luck, hope you buy one and get to enjoy it!

This. 100%

LN is more subtle, classier and an all round better proposition as a result, if you want some gold

The centre links will develop hairline scratches from day to day contact with pretty much any type of clothing.

But you’ll only notice them under bright light
