Where to Buy The Mini Turtle?

I am looking to pick up a mini turtle on rubber strap for my nephew. Can I just pick it up at an internet dealer like the first one below? Or is there danger of getting a fake?

Toby Deals $271

Long Island Watch $429
https://www.longislandwatch.com/Seik...p/srpc39j1.htm

Macys $313

I think it’s too new for fakes to be out there ... also not sure it’s worth someone’s time to make a fake of a $400 watch. Certainly I would think Macy’s or Long Island watch would be safe bet

I bought mine at Macy’s. It was a big sale (Black Friday?). It was too cheap to pass up.

LI Watch is not always the lowest priced option, but they sell watches in pristine and brand new condition. Total confidence in them.

This Amazon watch is a good price. But it doesn't say anything on the dial near the 6:00 marker. Don't most models have writing near the 6 marker?

There should be writing from 5-8... saying Made in Japan and some numbers. Depending on the angle it could be obscured by the edge of the hardlex crystal. Here’s a pic of mine- you can see it if you zoom in.

There is NO WRITING in that location on the dial on this watch from Amazon. This is odd!

Maybe it’s the angle the pic was taken- can you contact seller to ask?

Your JDM version says "Made in Japan"

The K1 non-JDM version has the movement number and some other numbers but does not say Made in Japan on the dial. Does anyone know if it is made in Japan?

Well, that explains that!

K is meant for the non-JDM market, right? Are all K watches not made in Japan? Do people find that Seikos made in Japan are generally better than Seiko made outside Japan? Or are the generally the same? Maybe JDM watches get more quality control?

Correct, K watches are not made in Japan and are not for the Japanese market. Regarding diffferences in quality of J and K versions, it’s a controversial topic- I think there are threads on TRF, and elsewhere on the internet, about this but in reality nobody really knows. Maybe it’s bias, but personally I would think manufacture and quality control in Japan is superior to Malaysia or other countries where K versions are manufactured. This is pure conjecture though and no idea if that translates into better durability or time keeping. For models that I really like and plan on wearing a lot (eg mini turtle, skx007), I try to buy J versions if there is not a huge price disparity.

End of the previous page and first post on this page.

In the end who knows. Imho there is 0,0 difference between a K and J version. If you happen to find it, please show me.

That's funny. People coveting the J because of its japaneseness, while the japanese wear the K.
Quote:
The only difference is that they are intended for different markets. They are all made in the same place.

Which isn’t Japan IIRC
Quote:
It can say Japan as long as a Japanese national inspect it? Is that the criteria?
Quote:
The 7S movement isn’t produced in Japan, the 4R and 6R are produced in Japan. I’ve been told that the “made in Japan” SEIKOs are assembled in Japan. Markings are due to the import laws in some countries. Some SEIKO 5 models even have JAPAN written in bold letters on the clasp.

The Swiss criteria is much stricter, I believe it changed 2014-2015 or thereabouts.

Absolutely no difference. I have been buying Seiko SKX's for over 10 years (since I am a flipper) and i have seen no difference. The only difference is opinions.

Thanks all for sharing your opinions!

Here are some of my choices:

An Amazon seller that has a dial with no apparent writing. I have reached out to seller and am waiting for an answer. $290
https://www.amazon.com/Seiko-Silicon...41682998&psc=1

A K watch from a Hong Kong dealer for $271
https://www.tobydealsau.com/en_US/pr...CABEgL4D_D_BwE

A J watch for $360 from Singapore
http://www.gnomonwatches.com/prospex...k-ref-srpc37j1

A K watch from Malaysia for $300
