Just on the for sale section and there is a member selling a bnib hulk for 10500 firm, what is going on?Its not hard to get and I was shocked seeing it for 9500-10000,now it's going for 10500 on here. Was there a price increase i am unaware of?

People can ask whatever they want.

Doesn't mean anyone is going to pay it.

Yes, generally, most people are nuts. I paid 8k for mine from an AD.

wouldn't you sell yours for that if you decide to move on from that piece in the future? Or would you sell low and leave money on the table?

The last two that sold on eBay were 10,750 and 11,098 and not many trusted resellers have them in stock. Seems like they're not in the cases as much as they were earlier this year. A bit high but appears going into the holidays there may be a shortage. Let's hope not.

There's also a ton of buyers who are going to offer below ask price no matter what. I've set fair prices before and still received crazy low balls. So maybe he sets 10500 and gets actual reasonable offers

Prices are climbing all over the world and now that Rolex have signalled the US is no longer immune to supply cuts, prices are only going one way. Just like deja vu for the Brits is all this.

A fool and their money...

But in all seriousness, there is clearly a major shortage of SS models. The hulk being on the harder end of already hard. That's when people foolishly overpay. But if it makes them happy and they pay that's their choice.

That's BNIB for sale right now in the open market in Hong Kong and the green ghost will set you back ~ USD 113xx
Watch Dealers are hoarding the Hulks in vaults waiting for the price to rise , Rolex has slashed production of SS Sports models by 40% beginning early this year (Source : Hong Kong Watch Fever FB + HKSnob ) and you know the reason why....

I live near a major chain AD who is one that is always saying:

“Buy now there is a price increase coming”
“This is a rare piece that we just got in”

They had 2 SS sub dates, 2 SS sub no dates, and a sub lv in the case a few weeks ago when I was there. I asked about Rolex holding back stock or a shortage and they laughed. For this AD to say this who in the past 5 years has used every sales tactic and lie to try and sell a watch tells me something. The trusted sellers are pricing themselves out of the market. Why buy from them when I can get a watch from an AD for cheaper? I think greed and rumors has a lot to do with it.

Spoke with an AD this weekend (despite being on a getaway trip) and was informed that they as of last week got notified by Rolex that their stock will not be refilled until next January of next year. Supposedly sub blusey, hulk and BLNR will be on some type of waitlist a la Daytona and SS SkyD.

Interesting Jimbogigolo, my local FL AD said the same thing a week or two back and just kinda let it roll thinking....

Good for him.

I'll never understand why people are so unhappy to see the high value that others give their prized possessions. If they don't sell for that so what? It is his problem and his choice.

I see this in the collectable car field too. "This guy is nuts trying to sell car x for such a high sum."

The way I see it, I already own it - if some guy wants to ask for double what I paid, great! It only raises the potential value of mine.

Or just a wealthy person whose time is better spent. If I had millions, I wouldn't sweat a few thousand if it would save me the annoyance of tracking down a watch.

If the luxury watch market shows us anything, it's that the value of money is relative. An awful lot of people would apply "A fool and his money..." to anyone who spent thousands on a watch in the first place, after all.

Agree, , 5000 to 10000 for a watch is insane to some people.

Stainless Subs are IN DEMAND, and the Hulk is obviously one of them. Just look at supply in the UK and OZ, they are more rare than a needle in a haystack.

Bob's doesn't exactly have competitive pricing, they're asking $18,495 for a pre-owned black SS Sky-Dweller, that's a grand more than I'm asking for mine brand new.

Living in NZ, we have limited access to the more desirable models....only 2 ADs....I looked for an LV in UK (family still there) and shocked by above retail prices for used....BNIB even more. Some people are happy to pay and thus it keeps the speculators in the game....I will not pay over the odds and will wait for dealer to call.....luckily, LV arrived in store 10 days ago...and now on my wrist. I think patience is the key....long wait lists include those who will never actually buy the watch....

Low stock at all my ADs, was told the same, so wouldn't be surprised to see a huge pre-holiday spike

Not that I am a frequent seller of watches - at all. However, the thought of crazy low-ballers clogging up my email / inbox is a major deterrent.
