Big Rose 7909

From 1957, here’s an interesting piece of history. This one is unusual in having a no-lume dial and hands. The dial is immaculate and as an observation it does appear that without lume in tritium or radium (from this era), vintage dials are far better preserved.
The case is thick and wears above it’s 34mm size with its thick slab sides and smooth bezel.
A bit of history; it was 25 of these 7909 models that were given to the Greenland Expedition of 1952-54 and survived the harshest of tests!

Looks like an embossed dial.

It just made me wonder if that could be part of the reason it is so well-preserved.

How does the process differ on Rolex to other brands? Is it simply the appplication?
